I didn't realize when I downloaded this book that I would be listening to a story about someone who died when a supposedly empty gun went off during a movie shoot. I happened to read this one not long after the Alec Baldwin incident, so that definitely colored my experience with this book.
Graphic: Gun violence, Infidelity, Murder
Cute! I really enjoy these books. They’re so fast paced and great when you’re in a reading slump.
Back to Lake Eden in this installment of the series, where a movie company has come to town. The addition of some new characters was a nice shake up, and the structure of the book varied some from previous novels. We still don’t have much progress in the way of Hannah choosing a suitor, and I found the perpetrator to be a bit predictable. Overall, it was an easy read, and I’m still craving cherry cheesecake.
Great premise and intriguing mystery! Also, I like the new character that was introduced!
Book #67 read in 2014
These books are always good for some fun, mindless reading.

Hollywood comes to Lake Eden and Hannah's creations are ready for their closeup!
When a production company comes to Lake Eden, Hannah is initially worried that her business closing will mean even worse news for her bottom line, but when two persons she went to college with are part of the cast/crew, she knows that she is in good hands. As part of the production, Ross assures Hannah of business AND of a small break. As part of the cast, Lynn talks to Hannah about her life AND inadvertently help her in the case when the director of the movie is murdered in front of a whole group of people. Hannah must negotiate between the positives for the town and the negatives, treading lightly to figure out who is responsible for the murder--before she is the next target.
Who would read this: Fans of the series, cozy mystery fans, someone who wants to read a strong heroine and also have some yummy recipes, those who have seen the movies. This particular book was created as a film, too!

Funny Story: This book sort of reminds me of a Murder, She Wrote book wherein a movie production company comes to town.
Final thoughts: These books are quick reads and I think I might read them for the recipes. However, there's usually little plot in a cookbook. I am almost halfway into the series, and I think I am staying.

Hannah Swensen is the local baker in a small town who cures pretty much any ailment with a dose of chocolate and has 2 of most eligible bachelors fighting over her... in this book a movie is in town filming and now there's a 3rd eligible bachelor. There is a murder (duh, it's literally in the title). In typical cozy mystery fashion, Hannah helps solve the case.
These are not meat and potato books, these are chocolate chip cookie and a glass of milk or hot cocoa books. They are sweet and sugary. The good guy always wins and the person who you thought was bad is never bad but really just misunderstood. Everyone knows everyone and they are all interconnected. It's not a bad series, it's not a bad story line, it is also not in depth high-level leave me thinking literature.

3.5 Good edition of the series, ANOTHER suitor for Hannah
These are cute little mysteries, but not very believable. Hannah is now being courted by three men whom fall all over themselves to grant her every wish. They don't get competitive or jealous. They look past the fact that she criticizes everyone and corrects peoples grammar. At least most of it is in her head. She's been dating two of them for more than a year and they are content with hugs and kisses? Sounds more like men from Hannahs mothers Regency Romance novels than modern day men.
