2018 reread: 5 stars, again.

The only thing that irks me about the copy I have right now is that someone had written in the margins IN PEN. Monsters, I tell you.

Greatest piece of literature ever written. Is the foundation of Western individualistic thought. Who we are in the West starts here.

Man. The Greeks really loved their High Drama.

As much as I enjoyed this as it was, I fell into a downward spiral rabbit-hole of "but what nuance was the translator unable to convey" or in simple terms "what am I missing out on"?

As I'm not a current student of history or literature... ain't nobody got time for that

Antigone, one of the great women of myth, vindicated at the last. Those fickle Gods

Had to read for school

Not bad but probably wouldn’t have read if i hadn’t been forced to

I read Fagles' translation here

While listening to the radio play based on his translation

A great play about the connection of siblings and the downfall of a man's pride. Easy quick read that is both enjoyable and philosophical. Probably my favourite play (second to the crucible). I could honestly write an essay about this play but for the sake of energy, I'll just sum it up to say I love it.
Tragedy, Siblinghood, Slight Romance, Fate/Destiny sign me up.

Much better than I remember in college. Antigone: one of the first strong female leads who didn't need a romance to define her!

Me caí de rodillas al suelo
