⭐⭐⭐⭐. 5 ARC Review

This book is so good the tension between Max and Ander is just perfect. I always loved Ander and his wittiness and this book just enhanced that love for him. This book has a mix of everything you can hope for. A mix of mythology and the modern world, sign language rep, LGBTQ rep, PTSD rep, mystery and romance. I liked meeting Max's siblings and their various personalities. I especially love Nox and even broody, quiet Quin.

This book is nothing short of a rollercoaster of emotions. Between Ander figuring out if he wants this amare bond with max, Max's dad hating Ander (read epilogue of Of Loyalties and Wreakage) and Enri resurfacing, you'll never be bored. There are so many sweet moments with Max and Ander that just make my heart so happy that Ander can feel safe and loved especially after a very abusive relationship with Enri. Mab will always have Andre's best interest at heart and love that for both of them but I'm also looking forward to her and Quinn's story or Stink Eye as she likes to call me. It's the grumpy reluctant friends to lovers for me.

All in all this book was a good read and I look forward to Of Hope and Blight.

A gay romantasy book with some crime and Greek mythology sprinkled in. Set in Miami, Ander is a promiscuous club owner who a traumatic past. He meets Max during an investigation of a crime and they slowly bond and grow closer to one another. Their love for one another is really sweet and they take their relationship slow, which is something that we don't see quite often in fantasy books. The book is 500 pages long but the pacing is fast, which makes it easy to get through. Definitely a great, comfy, cozy book to read during autumn.

Criminal Minds + Supernatural + Greek & Roman Mythology + Urban Fantasy Romance??? 100% yes!

When patrons start going missing from a local establishment that caters to both supernatural and human clientele, fate brings Max to Ander’s doorstep. With undeniable chemistry the two join forces to stop the evil that is ravaging Miami (and have some adorable dates along the way).

Of Love and Ruin is packed full of mystery, supernatural beings, nightlife, romance, golden retriever energy, found family, fate, banter, action and love. So excited for this series and can’t wait to see how the story continues to unfold!

Thank you to Lou Wilham, Christis Christie and MBGBT for the ARC!

"Family was not always who you thought it would be, but your darkest times told you who would be there to lean on."⠀

Lou Wilham & Christis Christie, Of Love and Ruin⠀

Of Love and Ruin (Sanctuary of the Lost Series) by Lou Wilham & Christis Christie is ⠀
a fantastic, fun fantasy that is equal parts heart and spice. ⠀

Ander and Mab are as delightful as ever, working together to run an epic nightclub in Miami that caters to both humans and supernatural creatures. When club patrons start going missing, the Sanctum (a police force of ignis warriors) suspects Ander and we are introduced to Max, the drop dead gorgeous,  white winged son of Ander's nemesis. As Ander and Max work together to solve the mystery of the missing, their chemistry is undeniable and super sexy! Mab is dragged along in their shenanigans and so is Max's grumpy brother Quin, leading to some hilarious verbal sparring. ⠀

The authors do an amazing job of bringing these characters to life and showing us how their past pain affects their present. There are honest representations of PTSD and self sacrifice but also of family ties and the power of both familial and romantic love. Showing both the horrors and healing of these relationships drew me in and made me feel like a member of the family. ⠀

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⠀
Of Love and Ruin is the quintessential cozy fantasy that you've got to grab this fall! If you loved Legends and Lattes or are looking for a darker, queer, adult version of Percy Jackson's found family vibes, this book is a must read.

This book is a fantastic mix of fantasy, romance, and police procedural. I was hooked from the start, and the characters wormed their way into my heart without much resistance!

I sped through the entire book in two days, and I can't wait for the next in the series!

One pet peeve (that likely won't bother others): The men in the book are often referred to as "males," which sounded cringey and clinical to me. But I could move past that easily because the story is compelling!
