Wow reading this book was a fucking journey, it's extremely triggering and emotional but oh so well written, each sentence was poetry and each words so well chosen,I love this book so so much I would recommend it to anyone but don't forget to check the TW since this book deals with so much heavy topics.

This book got too intense and became such a downer. It was one instance of trauma after another briefly interspersed with tender moments from the father. Could not finish. Maybe one day I will return to this, but not now.

This book was immaculate.  A part of me is disappointed in the lack of hype that it receives, but I also find some solace and comfort in the fact that it’s less well-known so that a select few of us can cherish it and our dim, quiet bookshelves (I swear I’m not gatekeeping it).

This book definitely hit many tiers of greatness that are difficult to achieve in a singular story—raw emotions, conflicting characters, and a meaningful plot.  I could feel the author’s care and nurturing of this story through every word.  Every detail mentioned would come back full circle to make sense in the end, connecting past, present, and future into a single thread.  I will definitely be rereading this book later this year after I digest it fully.

So beautiful but so heartbreaking. So many unexpected twists but such loveable characters. This really showcases the power of writing, I was made to feel anger, shocked and sad. I cried several times reading this so giving everyone a fair warning.

it was too hard to read

reading this book broke me: it was so harsh and beautiful and sad and depicted the horrible truth, without covering any of it. the diff between the magical world of betty’s father, his connexion to nature, to realness and beauty, and the horror of real life was so wonderful
it was really worth reading, though really hard to
tw: everything
