I read this for Shelf Space’s Olympic readathon, as part of the Eos prompt (read the first book in a series). It’s one I’ve been wanting to read for a while, and I enjoyed every minute of it - can’t wait to read the next one!

This book has been on my shelf for ages and I am kicking myself for never picking it up before now! Empire in the Ashes had me in a chokehold from the very first page, very excited to start the next one!

Overall this was an enjoyable book. It met all of my expectations for the type of story yet in a way I didn’t find tedious. Instead, I enjoyed how the stories of Laia and Elias intertwined. The setting of the story helped as it is refreshingly not a Eurocentric fantasy world. I’m excited to see what more is in-store for the world in the next books as I’ll add them to my TBR.

Also I’m calling it now, the Augur’s are the old magic scholars who trapped all the Djinn. Using their foresight they must have realized the Djinn king would seek vengeance. So put this all in motion.

Holy cow

PERFECTION!!!!

Me ha gustado mucho.
Me parece un inicio de saga muy prometedor ojalá se siga traduciendo al español .

Easily the best YA book I have read in a few years, and one of the best fantasy. This book is what the Divergent Series wishes it could be. The dystopian setting mixed with the middle eastern folk lore and fantasy was *chef’s kiss.*

Tahir does such a great job developing the back story and struggles of her characters. There is also a ton of wiggle room for more growth and political intrigue with the future books. So excited to start them.
