Another contemporary fiction set in the author's Cape Sanctuary, a town on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Northern California and centered on 3 generations where each member is harboring a secret as well as never having recovered from traumatic happenings years earlier. Juliet is the matriarch, a woman in her 50s who has fallen off a ladder and finds herself needing to accept help. Olivia, Juliet's daughter, has made a life for herself in Seattle though she's not particularly happy and is struggling with PTSD and panic attacks after witnessing an assault. However, she takes leave from work and heads back to Cape Sanctuary to help Juliet and her niece Caitlyn in the aftermath of Juliet's accident. Caitlyn is the daughter of Juliet's older daughter, Natalie, who died of a drug overdose when Caitlyn was a baby. Caitlyn has been raised by Juliet, happily, but now at 15 wants to know who her father is, which Natalie never disclosed. Additionally, reading Olivia's and Natalie's teen diaries (found in the attic) have led to a rift with her aunty Olivia.
The journey to communication and forgiveness among the women, with touches of romance on the side, as well as answers being discovered to past mysteries of course leads to a happy ending, which is just what I needed right now. These are romantic not smutty - clean closed door -- hot kisses about the extent. I like this series set in Cape Sanctuary; however, the author really needs to edit her tendency to repeat and repeat and repeat the same emotional barriers and descriptions of her characters. By the time I read it a 3rd time that a character unable to move forward and make a decision or enter into a relationship because of X, I want to take out a red pen. By the 6th time, I either abandon the book or, mostly, skim over it.

I always look forward to reading RaeAnne stories. I love how she shares the POV of the different characters in the story. It gives a deeper insight to their journey along the way especially when there are a variety of generations in the story. The story always comes alive as I read them.

Thank you Harlequin Books for allowing me to participate in The Sea Glass Cottage Blog Tour! I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first RaeAnne Thayne novel but definitely not my last!
This book was all female, mostly all of the time. There were many female characters, Liv, her niece and her mother, with whom she has a stressed relationship with. Sometimes, I would think this would be too much drama going on, but I think RaeAnne Thayne did a phenomenal job with the writing to keep the reader interested.
Like I said, there was a lot going on. If this was separated by character and chapters, it would've for sure been way too confusing. However, it was just an overall story about these characters and it was like watching a soap opera in my head. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. It was as they say, "like a train crash, you want to look away, but you can't."
There are a lot of emotions in this book. It's crushing and heartwarming all in the same book. RaeAnne Thayne did a wonderful job making sure all of the characters were heard in the same way. I didn't feel as though I knew more about one character than I did another. Also, the story is a lot about overcoming obstacles whether they are physical or mental. I really enjoyed that aspect of this novel.
Lastly, RaeAnne Thayne did a great job with the talk of drug abuse in this novel. This is a really sensitive topic with the society we are in. As someone who has lost individuals to this epidemic, I felt as though RaeAnne Thayne handled this with care. She really did make this feel as though we were looking at this story through Caitlin's eyes. Losing someone to this is soul-crushing and I really felt that with Liv's niece.
Overall, I really enjoyed The Sea Glass Cottage. There was a lot going on, but I think it was really good. I will for sure be giving RaeAnne Thayne another read!

It was an easy book to read. Very predictable and the author doesn't need to repeat herself so much.
When I first requested this book, I admit it was based on the cover. It was pretty and beautiful and looked like the type of book I would like reading. When I saw it was a Mills and Boon book I was surprised as this isn't my usual reading. Whilst I enjoy a good chick-lit, I've never really found M&B to be my style. I was pleasantly proved wrong with this book though.
The romance is not over the top, the main story focuses on three generations of the Harper family women. Mother Juliet is recovering from an injury and hiding another secret from her friends and family. Daughter Olivia is suffering PTSD following an incident in her local coffee shop and has lost her usual confidence and drive. Granddaughter Caitlin has discovered information about her mother and aunt that she didn't like and is struggling to find who her father was.
All three women are strong and independent characters in their individual way, even Olivia is strong in many ways she didn't think possible. They are all drawn together following Juliet's accident and have to learn to live with each other and trust each other. All of them have a little romance going on, Olivia with Chief Vance, Juliet with best friend Henry and Caitlin with Henry's son Jake but none of these women rely on the men to solve their issues for them, they are quite capable of rescuing themselves and that was what I enjoyed most about this book.
