My heart!

It’s Halloween night when Connor and Aaliyah meet for the first time. He’s dressed as Captain America, and she as Little Red Riding Hood.

Their chemistry is electric from the start, but neither is in the right place for a relationship. They spend the night together just getting to know each other, and to experience flashes of love as Connor calls it. When the sun rises they part ways without real names or phone numbers having been exchanged, and decide to leave it up to fate.

And man does fate have some things in store for them!

Connor is just...le sigh...do men like him really exist? He’s thoughtful, caring, sweet, funny, ambitious, driven, charitable, silly, serious, doting, and to top it all off, hot AF! He has his flaws but they stem from a very real place. So somehow he’s perfect, but still human.

Aaliyah is such a sweet, caring, lovely, beautiful soul. But she makes a lot of bad decisions and trusts the wrong people a lot throughout her life. When you read the book though you can understand her reasoning. You may not agree with some of it but her childhood has a lot of impact on her adult life.

I loved that there was some banter between Connor and Jax from Southern Storms! And I love Connor’s relationship with Damian. Can’t wait for his book now!

DID NOT FINISH: 7%

The writing is mediocre and childish. All the authors writing make me feel like I'm reading a middle school/YA blend masquerading as adult fiction. I will try to read the text next time to see if it helps but I'm not sure

This book was too much for me. I’m so glad it ended. I loved the Damian character though so I’ll read his book. I also loved her book Loving Mr.Daniels. So I know the the author is legit and has great style and voice. Her boo are very drama packed though so be warned. This book was just way to over-the-top and predictable. The too-good Conner who seemed to no backbone at all and A was just a sappy hot mess. I don’t like giving away spoilers so I’ll just say if you like sad emotional cheesy. Oops with too perfect characters then dive in. I will say- she wrote some really funny scenes.

Stop if you've heard this one before.... Captain American and little Red Riding Hood walk into a bar. No? Well this story begins with Captain America noticing Little Red Riding Hood in a bar, on Halloween night. Aaliyah fresh off a breakup isn't ready for a relationship and neither is Connor, he has plans, and they don't include time for a relationship. They spend the night showing each other places that mean something to the other person. They decide to let fate decide if they shall meet again.

Two years later and Aaliyah is engaged about to get married. She has always wanted a family and his parents are so kind to her. At a work party, her fiancé runs into his partner, Connor. She never thought she would see him again. When his dad asks Connor to look after his son the night before the wedding, Connor knew it would be torture. He is also wrong for her.

So when things go wrong, Aaliyah is left to pick up the pieces and Connor offers her a place to stay in his penthouse. Their friendship grows, living together. Connor's corny jokes, and his desire to show Aaliyah just how amazing, strong and worth loving she is will endear you to Connor.

There are roadblocks ahead, and the family she so desperately wanted is splintering. However, she just might find what she needs, in Connor.

This book was so good. The whole
heart failure aspect
hit a little close to home for me, but overall, I absolutely loved everything about it.
