slow-paced

Rating a book this low by one of my favorite authors really hurts my heart. I decided to listen to this one on audiobook even though I normally like to read her books on my kindle. I’m not big on millionaire romances but I’m reading her whole backlist so I needed to read this one. Connor isn’t a MMC that I’m normally drawn to but he was a fun character. He is such a breath of fresh air and is exactly what Aaliyah needed in her life. Even if in the beginning it was just as friends because he didn’t want a relationship. It was so fun watching their friendship blossom. There are some serious topics in this one but for the most part this story was fun to listen to. Aaliyah has been through so much and on Halloween night she meets Captain America and has one of the best nights of her life. Fast forward years and they cross paths again and he was there once more when she needed him the most. 🥹 I love their connection, but unfortunately it just felt like best friends and not lovers. I didn’t feel that pull that I normally feel while reading her books. It was  just okay. I’m excited for the next book. Damien is in this one quite a bit and I feel like I’ll love his character more.

Brittainy Cherry’s stories always manage to shoot an arrow straight into my heart, and Eastern Lights was no exception. Poignant, powerful, and so, so sweet, I couldn’t put it down! Five stars and a handful of tissues for the reigning Queen of Feels!!

As Laura Thalassa wrote "For your soft heart." Brittainy writes for my soft heart. I am convinced. I have never read a book by her that I didn't absolutely love. A well written book with a plot, great characters, and writing to move your heart in all directions. There is also something to say about romance books that are romance and not smut. There is nothing wrong with smut, but this book is filled to the brim with love and the time I spend reading her books are flashes of love in life that I can't forget.

Exactly what I needed in 2021!
Man, this book is truly everything! Cherry masterfully addresses difficult and real issues in romantic and familial relationships. It is rare I say this, but, I was truly inspired by Aaliyah's character. Also, everyone should have a Connor. He is the absolute best kind of person. Let me just add that - only Brittainy Cherry could actually make my eyes tear at only 3% into the ebook. 3!! I cannot say enough good things about Eastern Lights. I floved it and could not put it down! Hands down my best 2021 read.

Beides wirklich tolle Menschen.

Theres nothing anyone can say that will convince me that any character in this book is an adult.

“At your best, Aliyah , you are loved”

Connor and Aaliyah (Or as I will always know them, Cap and Red) stole my heart! From the second they met I was as much a goner for them as they were each other. There are a few different subplots going on and all are equally intriguing! It all fits together perfectly to compose a beautiful and brilliant story of love, loss, friendship, and family (whom is quickly proven to not always be about blood but the family you find and finds you). There were more than a few times I found myself wiping tears from my face and more often than not from happiness instead of sorrow. (And let me tell you how I NEED to read more about Damian. I’m already halfway in love with him.) Brittainy has done it once again (was there ever any doubt?). I definitely recommend reading this book, but be prepared to have your heart stolen!
