It wasn‘t my cup of tea to be honest. I didn‘t feel any chemistry between the main characters. I couldn‘t really feel the way they behaved and talked and yeah. Anything that happened was so predictable and at the same time not at all realistic to me. So. Not for me, sorry.

In questo libro ho ritrovato la Cherry della serie Elements e se mi conoscete un po' sapete cosa questo significa per me.
Connor e Aaliyah sono due personaggi fantastici, se gli uomini della Cherry è facile amarli, questa volta è soprattutto la protagonista femminile a brillare.
Entrambi i protagonisti hanno dei grossi bagagli sulle spalle, ma la storia che questa talentuosa autrice ci racconta è la vita, romanzata certa, ma è ciò che ci troviamo ad affrontare tutti i giorni.
Questo libro è quasi un manuale di autoaiuto perché insegna a credere in se stessi, ad amarsi nonostante i difetti, a credere negli altri, a non voltare le spalle a chi ha bisogno, a trovare la gioia nelle piccole cose.
La scrittura della Cherry è sempre splendida, ma negli ultimi libri non ero più riuscita a trovare quelle emozioni della sua penna che mi avevano conquistato fin dalla prima volta che la lessi.
Si sente che l'autrice ha messo tutta se stessa in questa storia, che le emozioni sono reali perché sono le sue.
Personalmente mi sono rivista tantissimo in Aaliyah perché il bisogno di essere accettati dagli altri, di non sentirsi soli, di cercare l'approvazione... sono tutte cose che abbiamo in comune e che, purtroppo, io non riesco ancora a togliermi di dosso.
Ci vorrebbe un Connor per tutti.
Ah, Connor... lui è l'amico che tutti vorrebbero, la spalla di cui tutti hanno bisogno. Lui è dolce e divertente e ha il cuore più grande che si possa incontrare.
A livello di trama, io vi avviso, prendetevela comoda. Se cercate fuochi e fiamme questo libro non è per voi.
Questa storia è uno splendido slow burn senza insta love, ma che insegna che l'amore può nascere in qualsiasi forma e in qualsiasi momento. Anche solo dopo una notte. È una storia di amicizia, di condivisione, di fiducia.
E ora non posso fare che stare qui a consigliarvi questo libro con tutto il cuore e ad attendere la storia di Damian che con la sua personalità glacialmente tiepida mi ha conquistata.

I liked the book and the (German) narrators, but sometimes the story was a bit cringe.
The hospital scenes and out of it resulting situations were pretty nice though, because they were all pretty emotional and during the first one, I even had tears in my eyes (same as during the epilogue with the family).
In general were the characters great and I loved them. They were so cute together, but I wasn’t a fan of how her illness became their main conflict in the end (even if I can kinda understand it). It was a bit weird though that nearly every character became a villain throughout the book, except for her boss (why?) and their family and friends. Kind of felt unnecessary and also predictable. I mean, those books tend to be pretty predictable, but I do have to say that her family wasn’t that much expected (at least at first).
Regarding the audiobook: I’ve listened via Spotify and of course the chapters weren’t listened as such in the track titles, but a couple of times the narrator changes correlated with the track changes, which was nice because it was easier to get back in after stopping and to bookmark where I’ve left of (with marking the tracks as favorites).

Why did I have this book on my kindle for months and didn’t read it? I read this in one sitting. I loved the characters so much. I’m a huge nerd so I definitely loved those nods as well.
