Connor and Aaliyah - I loved it!
Brittainy Cherry writes beautiful books. I loved the sweetness of Connor and Aaliyah’s story filled with twists, turns, ups, downs and happily ever after. Looking forward to the next one.

This was like watching a train wreck. It’s so bad you can’t look away. The only way I was able to finish it was that I was listening to it instead of reading it on paper. The story line is good but the dialogue and writing style are terrible. It feels like a clueless teenager wrote it.
I cannot say enough good things about this installment of the Compass series! It took me like 20 chapters to realize that Connor is the same Connor from Southern Storms! I’m ride or die for grumpy x sunshine but this man had me rooting so hard for a “golden retriever bf.” I cried from beginning to end, except for the moments I was fuming while reading Jason’s parts. Connor’s only flaw? Not kicking Jason’s butt. OMG and Damian?! LOVE HIM. I like my romance books on the smutty side but the plot and characters were written so wonderfully that I didn’t mind how clean this book actually is (has only 2 seggs scenes, I think). If this is already on your tbr or you’re considering adding it, have some tissues ready before you begin

"I think the best way for me to fall in love with you is just being around you."
Eastern Lights is Connor's story, who you've met if you've read Southern Storms, the first book in the Compass series. Connor stole the show for me in the previous book so I was incredibly excited when the author announced that he was getting his own book. Connor is a people pleaser and wants to bring a smile to everyone's face. He is determined and very dedicated to make his dreams come true. The heroine in this book Aaliyah has self-esteem issues and just wants to be loved. Her being abandoned as a baby really affected how she handled her relationships. Connor tries to stay away from serious commitment in regards to relationships, because he is afraid of losing the person he'll end up loving.
"You're going to learn quickly that it's so much better to sit in moments of ugly truths than swim in beautiful lies."
Connor and Aaliyah's first meeting was beautiful and so much fun. These scenes really brought out the personality of both characters. It was a great way for me to connect and get to know them. They really made a huge impact on each other's lives and it was just such an incredible experience. Connor is an amazing hero and I fell more and more in love with him in this book. The flashbacks into his past helped me understand why he never took the steps towards a serious relationship. However, Aaliyah just broke down the walls he built around his heart. They were both broken characters and just needed someone to show them that they were worth it. I do have to say that I felt that the last quarter of the book was rushed. I wanted the characters to spend more time together and grow further as a couple. I also wish there were a couple of flashbacks into Aaliyah's past. Eastern Lights is a beautiful, uplifting and sometimes emotional contemporary romance. I hope Damian's story is next in this series, because I am intrigued by this broody young man.

Beautiful, truly beautiful. I laughed, I cried, I gasped and I felt every emotion under the sun. Brittainy knows how to write captivating, multi-dimensional characters.
As a black FMC Aaliyah is what I wish black women could be portrayed as more often, delicate, vulnerable, lovable and a joy to be in the shoes of even though she went through a lot I was happy as a reader to go through this journey with her and watch her develop to love herself. I do wish she didn't completely forget all the promises she made on Halloween night to Cap to never settle, although 1 understand she was in a very vulnerable situation not long after and Marie (yes, I blame her for that) took advantage of that.
Cap, Mr Connor Ethan Roe, my dream man, oh was this man a dream and a half, he was so inspirational and a goddamn golden retriever! I loved the support he provided our girl Aaliyah from day dot although that third act had me judging a bit, I get you're scared but would it not have been better to have had Aaliyah's love than lose Aaliyah and forever wish you had spent those last few moments with her? He is lucky things worked out!!! Also, I realised waayyy too late that Jax was Jax from Southern Storms

//A short review of Brittany C Cherry's "Eastern Lights"//
Oh my gosh what can I say except I AM MADLY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK<3<3
Here are some reasons why I loved this book so freaking much:
1. CONNOR. That's it. He was already my favorite character in "Southern storms" and I didn't thought I could love him even more... but oh was I wrong.
2. I was completely emotionally connected to this book. What I want to say with that is, that I was feeling what the characters felt and was constantly fangirling. Brittainy really knows how to write emotionally touching and heart wrenching books.
3. The Plot in general is something I haven't already read thousands of times, which makes it even more special to me.
4. Damian. Loved his character and his surprisingly deep personality. He's very different from other side characters I usually read about and he now has a special place in my heart too. Additionally: I NEED ANOTHER BOOK ABOUT HIM.
5. As usual the wonderful messages behind the storyline.
6. The plot twists. They might not be that shocking, but I don't think that they come across you that much in this genre.
7. One word: Liebesblitze (no idea what it is in English haha)
HUGE recommendation and definitely another Reading Highlight for me<3<3<3

Last 25% was 5⭐️ for me. I seen this on many of my fav YouTubers book recommendations so I decided to pick it up. Honestly the rest of the book varied between 3.5-4 ⭐️ for me. I struggled to connect with some of it but the 75% ish mark is were I had all the emotion and feels.
This Book made me cry so hard. Brittainy C. Cherry has the ability to put every possible emotion into one book. I laughed so hard and I cried and I was so angry at certain characters I almost threw my book into a wall. I WAS THAT INVESTED INTO THE BOOK. Just read it. This book is what you need in life.
