Eastern Lights is the second book in the Compass series written by Brittainy Cherry.

*Jilted bride

*Health issues

*Friends to Lovers

Aaliyah and Connor meet on Halloween night and spend the entire night showing each other their favorite places in NYC. After that night they go their separate ways for two years until being brought back together by surprise circumstances.

After Connor invites Aaliyah to move in with him when she needs a place to stay, they soon develop strong feelings for each other. However, Aaliyah suffers from CHF and Connor can’t handle the pressure after going through his mother’s cancer diagnosis several years ago.

This was not my favorite Brittainy Cherry novel, and I really didn’t like the male narrator on audiobook. I also despised the character of the FMC’s ex-fiancé, he was written as a complete asshole!!

No OW drama, a lot of OM drama due to the ex-fiancé. No cheating, does have a third act breakup. Ends with HFN.

Characters: Connor (MMC) & Aaliyah (FMC)

OK, I don't even know how to start this. I planned to read just a few chapters before bed, but I ended up finishing the entire book. In the last two chapters, everything changed. At first, Connor and Aaliyah are just spending time together, helping each other, and then—boom—the emotional rollercoaster hits. Those last chapters (that I was just supposed to read and then go to bed) completely pulled me in. I couldn't stop. I was crying, rethinking everything, and before I knew it, I had finished the whole book.

I was looking for a book that would emotionally devastate me (masochistic, I know) and leave me staring at the wall for hours. Mission accomplished. Certain themes hit close to home, making it impossible not to relate. The way the characters and their emotions were written made them feel like real people—provoking empathy and a sense of understanding within me. This is exactly why I love reading this author.

Connor and Aaliyah's connection? Beautiful. The way they supported each other from the very beginning? Perfect. Everyone needs a Connor in their lives. UGH, Connor, the man you are.

There were only two bad things about this book: one, that it has to end, and two, that Connor is not my man.

That was goooood
emotional funny fast-paced
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

3.5 stars. Not my favorite Brittainy Cherry book, but I still loved reading it. Usually I stay up all night to read her books in one sitting because I can’t bear to stop, this one didn’t grab me like that.

Again? Yes again. Brittainy Cherry has reduced me to tears yet AGAIN. The book is wonderfully written with just enough angst, sass, and surprise that I’ve come to expect from BC. She ties this novel with the first one effortlessly with just enough details to make those who read the first novel smile.
Also unrelated to the writing, the cover art is exactly what I imagined Connor would look like.

I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series will hold!

This book...I freaking could not put it down. I loved it SO SO much. Brittainy Cherry is masterful of not only connecting and engaging readers to a journey but she completely envelops us in the web that is their life. Fiction? I don't believe it. LOL I love Connor and Aaliyah more than I can describe in this review. Their meet cute? Pure perfection. In a short span of time I wanted more for these two than I can even describe. Aaliyah was desperate to belong...to love, to be loved, to be cherished...so much so that she could make something great out of something so below par. Until Connor. Swoooon. Connor is pure book boyfriend PERFECTION. I loved everything about him. Even when he bumped his head and made the wrong move...I adored him. Read this book. It will burrow into your heart and make you yearn for more. Can't wait to see Damian find his person. Until next time...xo
