Irresistible You

Once again Kate Meader has written a flawless romance that blends sweet and heat with a story of family and friendship that will have you longing to move to Chicago and take in a hockey game or two.

In this story you'll meet Remy, a Cajun who loves his family, food and hockey. With an accent that will make you swoon, nicknames that will make you blush (Minou), and the ability to whip up an amazing meal, you'll fall in love with with this man who is the epitome of a gentlemen. Remy knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go for it. Especially when what he wants is Harper.

Harper is very career focused and set out to prove herself to a dad who clearly misjudged and underestimated her and a sports world that doesn't think she's capable of running a hockey team. Forced to share the decision making with her estranged sisters, she finds herself not just fighting for a team she loves but for all of womankind. An attraction to the sexy, veteran player she's brought on to get her team on track is the last thing she needs but the one thing she can't seem to ignore.

I adored Remy and Harper together. The tension between them was so incredibly hot I couldn't stop reading!! I also really enjoyed the family dynamic between her and her sisters and was happy to see them slowly starting to bond and work together and support each other the way they never had the chance to before.

I can already tell that This is going to be a great series and I'm really excited to see where the secondary character's stories take me!!

Took about 90 pages for it to be interesting, but once it picked up I really liked Remy and Harper's relationship. They had great chemistry. Review to come.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first book by Kate Meader. Sports romance is a sweet spot for me when done well and I’m a fan of hockey in books. Meader executed this well with fresh characters, the hero Remy who I liked immediately and Harper the heroine who was a ‘grower’. The chemistry is well written and bubbles gently, then fiery.

The set up for future books holds lots of promise and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Harper Chase is the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father, Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup

Irresistible You is the first book in Kate Meader's Chicago Rebels series and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. Both Harper and Remy had something to prove. Harper that she could be a successful NHL owner and Remy that he could win the Stanley Cup. The characters are well developed and the story line is amazing.

I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, So Over You.

"But haven't you figured it out yet? You're my ride or die, Harper."

*Happy sigh* ^.^ I enjoyed Harper and Remys story sooo much. It's been a long time since I've read a book I loved enough to put in my Favorites category. I am most definitely reading the next book in the series. And buying a physical copy of this one for my keeper shelf.

CW for recollections of domestic abuse, general misogyny, joke about "crazy"/mental asylum

This was my first Kate Meader. I was pretty easily drawn in - it's late March and I'm missing hockey, seemed like a hockey romance would hit the spot and the heroine (Harper) here owns the team! Well, she owns the team with her sisters, who were the highlight of Irresistible You for me. To be honest, I'd have preferred fiction about the three of them more so than a romance about her and Remy, a player she's recently signed.

Somehow this book was simultaneously sort of long while not delivering enough hockey OR enough romance for me to really enjoy it. I think perhaps it's a situation of "it's me, not you" - instalove is rarely my thing, and the buildup between the two seems more that than anything. Remy also makes an uncharitable assumption or two about Harper that I really didn't appreciate. I just didn't root for the two of them to get together, which took away from my overall enjoyment.

And, this didn't factor into my rating, but just a quick side note: while Buffalo is a plausible place to put a women's hockey team (shoutout to the real-life Buffalo Beauts!), there'd never be a "Bayside Arena" in Buffalo. The city's on a lake! (There's Sunset Bay, but that'd be a weird place to put a hockey arena as it's more of a getaway...)

Super cute and entertaining. Definitely one of the best romances I’ve read this year.

Why is it so hard to write reviews of books I like?

Absolutely amazing. These two had incredible chemistry and were hilarious together.

My only gripe would be that I wanted more of them together after the forbidden shit is over. Not to mention I’m really not a fan of forbidden romances. Too much forced stress.
