4.5 Irresistible Stars!
What an awesome start to a new series! I love a story about girl power. To see a series where women in a position of power of a male dominated sport, is a huge draw for me. The author did such a good job of creating a strong heroine in Harper and pairing her with a sexy Cajun that is powerful in his own right and made it work. I loved everything about this couple. The resistance was expected of the theme of this story and never felt overdone. Remy, his Cajun accent and sexy endearments were a real treat to experience. This had great side characters that will have you looking forward to their own books. I highly recommend this book! ARC provided by NetGalley.
Safety spoilers
-no other women/men drama
-no cheating
-no sexual abuse
-mention of on moment of an ex hitting heroine.

4.5-5 stars. Loved the writing, the steam, and the characters. Hope the storyline continues b/c it ended rather quickly....
Hot hockey player falls in love with the owner of his new team? Sign. Me. Up. You had me at 'hot hockey player,' but I also love sports romances with a woman in charge. I always love the little extra layer that adds to the story. Kate Meader is another new-to-me author that I've heard so many good things about and I've been looking forward to picking up Irresistible You. This is going to sound pretty corny, but Remy and Harper really were irresistible. I gladly spent two nights losing sleep because I couldn't put this book down. I loved that Remy holds no punches. Whether Harper is ready or not, Remy is determined to find a way into her heart. He's as patient as he can be while Harper fights her demons and when it looks like she needs a bit of a push, he's there to help. I loved that never once did he fight or question his feelings. Harper may have wounded his heart a time or two, but he stood strong with his heart. Harper, on the other hand, is thrown for one big-ass loop when her attraction for Remy turns into something deeper. Her heart and her brain are at odds for most of the book and rightfully so. The ringer she's been put through is enough to make anyone pause. I loved that she was strong enough to fight her demons and eventually was able to let people in. Not just Remy, but also her sisters. Irresistible You was just so much fun to read. I adored the characters and I can't wait to get to know Harper's sisters better. I loved Kate's writing style. Being inside Remy and Harper's thoughts was hysterical most of the time, especially when they were gettin' hot and steamy. Speaking of sexy time... Holy cow, it was hot! Overall, Irresistible You was a great start to introduce myself to Kate's books. I actually realized a few minutes ago that I have the prequel novella to the Chicago Rebels series on my Kindle. Guess what I'll be reading soon... Yay!
I received an advance copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Remy "Jinx" DuPre may be the most romantic romance hero I've ever read. He's a toned, muscled hockey player who speaks in a New Or-linz drawl, liberally peppering his speech with French phrases. He cooks amazing food, makes sure his lady eats and leaves work at a reasonable hour, loves and respects her intelligence and ruthlessness, and never tries to blame her for things out of her control. Harper Chase is a lucky woman, and gladly she recognizes that by the end of the book!
I'd read the prequel novella to this, In Skates Trouble, as part of a larger anthology and it was easily the standout in terms of writing quality, character development, and pacing. I'm happy to find that the first full-length installment in the Chicago Rebels series is just as good (if not a bit better) than its predecessor. Meader writes great heroes and heroines, and her secondary characters are interesting without drawing focus from the main couple. It's also abundantly clear that she's done her hockey research - I spot-checked terms and scenarios with my hockey-loving husband (also in hopes of convincing him to read the book! We'll see) and he was able to verify everything.
Harper and Remy's romance starts with their initial physical attraction, but Harper is very aware that she's under intense scrutiny as one of the first female team owners in pro sports. The media has been harsh enough on her and her sisters, and she knows they'll be out for blood if she gets involved with anyone on the team. Between her upbringing with a distant and manipulative father, and a bad relationship when she was younger, Harper has convinced herself that she doesn't need a man to make her happy, or any friends at all, really. She's so focused on making the franchise a success that nothing else matters, not even when she's rattling around lonely in her giant house.
Thankfully Remy is nothing if not persistent and stubborn, and keeps trying to bring down Harper's defenses. However, even when he's badgering her to give them a chance, he doesn't ignore her reservations. He uses his actions to prove that he's a man she can count on, and he listens to her concerns about how the media would turn on Harper if they took their relationship public. In the end, he knows that decision has to be in her hands if she's going to trust him and commit to a relationship.
Harper's growing connection with her two half-sisters is also an important part of the book, and it's great to see how they consciously choose to trust one another and start forging bonds with one another. Their father screwed them all up to some degree, but that's something they use as a building block, something to bond over. Of course each sister will get her own book at some point, but they have a purpose in this one too.
I'm excited for another great hockey romance series, and will definitely be on the lookout for other books by Meader!

Holy Hotness! Wait until you meet veteran hockey player Remy "Jinx" DuPree. This sexy Cajun hockey player stole my heart. The man can cook, reads books to discuss with his tween nieces, loves his family and whispers sweet, sexy French terms of endearment. Remy has his eyes on obtaining a Stanley Cup and retiring. He is tired and ready to start a family of his own. His team has a shot but those plans go all to hell when he is drafted by the worst team in the league the Chicago Rebels. Worse yet, the franchise is in financial trouble and run by three sisters who are rumored not to even like each other.
From the onset the chemistry between Harper and Remy was electric, but Harper is trying to fill a position in a man's world and all eyes are upon her. She cannot afford to be distracted, and she needs Remy focused on bringing the team together and winning. I love the back and forth stubbornness between these two and enjoyed the way things heated up. The romance felt genuine and Meader kept the drama to a minimum.
I fell hard for Remy and Harper has Daddy issues. She is very focused on her career but sees her successes and failures as a reflection of her personal worth. She has been hurt by her sisters but also doesn't open up and keeps her emotions checked. As their friendship and relationship develop we see character growth in Harper. I loved seeing her loosen up and enjoy stolen moments of happiness.
Foodie lovers will enjoy all of the Cajun dishes mentioned in this story. My only disappointment was not finding recipes to accompany them. We need a Remy DuPree cookbook. The man was hot in bed and sizzling in the kitchen.
We learned a little about the sisters and I am looking forward to their stories. We also spent time with key hockey players. I will be curious to learn more about this motley crew. A lot of time is spent at the rink, and we get some hockey talk. It was nice seeing that these threads were well researched. Meader also took us to New Orleans and anytime a book does this I smile and long to visit the city again. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

2.5 read for me. I listened to the audiobook and I didn't like the voice the narrator used for the h but I liked her voice for everything else. I liked Remy but I didn't like Harper, she was supposed to be strong but to me she came off as weak and whiny with whoa is me syndrome. I plan to check out the next book in the series because I liked the other characters.

It took me several tries to get through the first few chapters of this book, but it paid off in the end. Nice complex characters on both sides of the equation with competing and clashing goals for their lives.
I am love with this sexy hockey playing cajun man. It had hockey, sexy accent, forbidden love, and family ties. A great start to this series for me.
Great setup to a new series. I loved Remy, he was such a southern gentlemen but of course, all men are asses when they are jealous. Harper is a very strong independent woman, it was nice to watch her grow through this book. Looking forward to the next sister ;)
