A memoir of Emmy award winning actor and Instagram celebrity; Leslie Jordan. The book mostly revolves around Leslie's Hollywood lifestyle and his life as a gay man.
Sweet stories from a sweet man. Listened to this on audiobook, read by Leslie Jordan himself. A bit of an out-of-body experience listening to him, as he has since passed, but also comforting to hear he lived a wonderful life to the fullest. Felt like listening to a friend.

Love Lesley, and so sad he is no longer with us. I could listen to him read anything, but I really enjoyed learning about his childhood, and all of the usual fun anecdotes of his time in Hollywood.
“True happiness can only come from being of true service to others.”
“There’s an old southern expression, ‘I don’t got a dog in that fight.’ But I immediately realized that was never going to be the case when it comes to standing up for racial injustice. We’ve all got a dog in that fight.”

A sweet and quick audiobook, lovingly read by the author to his “Instagram friends.” It was a nice break from another heavier non fic audiobook I’m slowly working my way through. I wished it was a bit more personal and a bit more like a traditional memoir - I preferred the chapters about Jordan’s childhood (his pony, his bride doll, his family vacations) to the chapters about his career. Some of the career stuff felt impersonal and factual rather than immersive - “I worked with so-and-so and she was wonderful.” I’m sure that was intended to give the reader insight into his many roles while keeping himself in good standing with the actors he’s worked with but it could be a little boring.

Leslie Jordan can tell any story and make it funny. I laughed throughout this book despite many details being boring. Recommend listening to the audiobook
