It Could Be Anyone by Jaime Lynn Hendricks
The story starts with Trevor dropping dead at his own wedding, brought down by an allergic reaction. It could not have happened to a more deserving man. Trevor was a skunk, a sleazy, blackmailing bottom feeder, who weaseled his way into marriage to Fiona by holding the secrets of her best friends over their heads. Let the funeral begin!
Once Trevor drops dead, the story goes back and forth between a couple of days before the wedding and further back, to the times when Trevor makes his original threats, with pictures and video, known to each of the friends. This had been a group of seven college friends until Trevor did his dirty work on one of them. That had shown the group that they'd be out if their secrets were known, so now each of them feels they must go along with Trevor's demands.
The only person with a backbone is already gone so we get to watch the friends dig deeper holes. Who'd want friends like this? It's so improbably that all these friends could have such dark and dirty pasts but it seems they were like magnets to each other (or something else was going on) for them to all come together in college, to be glued to each other, well over ten years later. And now all peace of mind is being destroyed by Trevor.
If only the characters were more likeable but they lack so much. Common sense, the decency to tell the truth, the gumption to admit the past and face up to it. But no, lie at all costs and do more dumb things to make things worse, I would never trust any of these people so I guess they deserve each other. So...who killed Trevor?

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Scarlet and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.
Synopsis: To anyone on their flight out of New York, they appear to be five best friends excited for a destination wedding in Miami. No one would guess that each of them has a reason to want the groom dead. Trevor Vaughn, the groom in question, he learned all of the five’s darkest, most dangerous secrets and blackmailed them into convincing Fiona to say “I do.” The friends were forced to convince a doubting Fiona to go through with the wedding, no matter what, and now the charade is set to continue all the way to the altar. What happens at this designation wedding to this friend group?
My Thoughts: Wow is my first word! I absolutely devoured this book in just days. I even put the other books I was reading on the back burner to finish this one. There is twist after twist and it is wrapped in a bow at the end. The story is told from the perspective of most of the friend group, even Trevor has a few “perspectives.” The characters are well developed and have depth, mysteriousness, are intriguing, and extremely creative. The author’s writing style is complex, brilliant, creative, and kept me absolutely engaged the entire book. The storylines that are developed are amazing, the author took great care in providing backstories and how they all tied together. The only part I wish was a little more was the ending, I mean it was good, but I was left with wanting a little more. I love this author and will be buying any future books. I highly recommend this book!! Go buy it or reserve from the library right now!

This was a fun, drama filled, twisty, page-turning thriller! The characters were unforgettable. I loved getting to know each one of them on such an intimate level. Emma, Ethan, Allie, Dutch, and Vee are each hiding life-changing secrets within their close-knit circle. I thought the most exciting part of this book was when I hit the 75% mark.
I devoured this in one sitting because it started with a bang right out of the gate! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going on. And those twists are EVERYTHING!!!
Closed circle of suspects ✔️
Shocking secrets ✔️
Page turner until the end ✔️
The blurb on the cover is no exaggeration! The groom, Trevor, dies immediately and we’re left to find out who killed him. And because Trevor was blackmailing the whole friend group, it really could be anyone. The first chapter blew my mind and I kept being shocked throughout the book. I was never bored at any point in this book and I absolutely devoured it. The chapters switch between the different characters but are all written in third person POV so the storyline flowed well. When I first started this book, I was worried that there were going to be too many characters, but I easily learned who everyone was. Everyone in this book has crazy secrets that they are hiding, and more than one of them would be willing to kill to keep them hidden. Other books that I have read with a similar plot had characters that came across as catty, especially if all the characters were women. This book really did it differently where there was none of that flippant drama going on. The twist at the end made my jaw drop and I’m so glad I read this book!

This was a drama filled thriller and I couldn’t get enough. You definitely have to suspend your disbelief with this one because it’s kooky and a little over the top but it worked for me. It starts out with the murder and then circles back to the days leading up to it - it really worked well in this book. The suspect pool is decently large but I didn’t struggle keeping track of the characters like I’ve done in other similar set ups. This is the perfect beach read thriller if your in the market for one!
What did I just read?! Jaime Lynn Hendricks kept me captivated from page one until the deathly end. Written in multiple POVs, I thought I would be overwhelmed and concerned that I would get mixed up, but it was easy to track the characters and their dirty sins. When Fiona gets engaged, her group of friends are less than excited about her soon to be husband, Trevor... probably because he's blackmailing every single one of them. No worries! Fate is on their side when Trevor drops dead at their wedding and all of the friends get to keep their darkest secrets - for the most part. The things I learned about these people were WILD and Hendricks did an AMAZING job orchestrating the minor details throughout the book that ties everyone together. I was too distracted by the drama to even guess who the killer could be. I loved this book so much! Way to put the thrill in thriller!
