You can’t have 1000 characters, and then give half of them nicknames. So much of this book was unnecessary. Unnecessary characters, unnecessary plot points, unnecessary explanations. The ending did live up to the hype, and if you’re look long for a lighter thriller it’s on kindle unlimited. It’s not bad- it’s just not good either.

I might have rated this higher, due to a rather successful and believable story arc with a great twist. However, I did not find White’s characters particularly likable. I didn’t dislike any of them. They were believable enough. I just want emotionally connected to them or their problems. Her writing style let a lot to be desired for me.

Probably Loreth Anne White’s weakest book, but the fact that it still gets four stars from me is really saying something! The story was compelling and I was very invested, I read this in less than 24 hours. I just hoped for more, parts of the ending were a bit unsatisfying. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot but I would recommend other books by White before this.

I am a fan of Loreth Anne White, however, this book is so very disappointing. I have only made it 1/2 way and I am not sure if I will finish. The random insertions of political and cultural views were very distracting and did not seem to further the storyline at all. Also, the dialog seems amateurish at times, which is surprising with a Loreth Anne White book.

Very good storytelling with some wows right to the end. The development of the main character was a nice surprise in this novel.
