This was a slow burn of a book with multiple point of views. It was hard to keep track of everyone and I found the ending a bit rushed.

Oh man... I liked this for about 80% of the way through. The ending really disappointed me. I felt like the author was trying to throw in an extra twist that just really made me kind of groan. There are so many other ways this could have gone that would have been better, in my opinion.

We love to see character development, and in some ways, we do. (Way to go, Angela! Screw you, Shoreview Six!) White did a great job of introducing the characters and letting you get to know them.

This was a good thriller, but I don't think it was as good as the author's other book, The Maid's Diary. I can't get past the ending and how let down I am in that regard.

4.25⭐️ Loreth Ann White is by far one of my most favorite authors of any genre! I felt the ending was a bit rushed but wow - there was so many twists in this story that I couldn’t put this book down.

I read a lot of police procedural books, and White’s always stand out to me. She embraces reality in a way that feels simultaneously bleak and hopeful. In her newest book, The Unquiet Bones, there’s a lot of heavy topics featured, including missing people, racism, and the effects one person’s actions can have on an entire community.
There are many points of view in this book, but obviously one of the main ones is detective Jane Munro. I really liked her character, and appreciated her as a connection to everything else going on. White’s main characters are usually women, and have a trademark “no bullshit” attitude that Janealso had. That bluntness, combined with the intense plot and heavy plot twists, left me feeling emotionally spent by the time I finished the book.
I’d recommend White’s books to anyone looking for a serious crime thriller, and I’d specifically recommend The Unquiet Bones to anyone who feels like they always see the ending coming. Because I promise the twists in this one will be a shock!

Easy read that drew me in right away. I wasn’t expecting the ending, which is always nice. I do think there were too many characters. Sometimes I had no idea who was who 🤷🏼‍♀️
