As someone who generally reads historical fiction, I was a little bit jarred by how many recent events were inserted into this story. The mention of the four Idaho students who were murdered just a year or two ago really threw me off. Besides that, the story was generally interesting and had a shocking conclusion but was a little bit too slow of a burn for me. I often found myself wishing that the story would just get to the point. The writing was good, but the phrase "made her pregnant" really bothered me. I'm not sure if that's just a Canadian thing that I'm unaware of, but I'e never heard it phrased that way before. I wouldn't say this is necessarily a book I would recommend or read again, but it was a good palette cleanser after my previous read.

Cold case meets The Heathers. Entertaining. Somewhat predictable. A bit dramatic. But fun nonetheless!
I've become a fan of Loreth Anne White's book and this one did not disappoint. This mystery has a large cast of characters that come out of the woodwork when a cold case is literally dug up when the remains of a missing girl are found almost 50 years later. The Shoreview 6 are determined to keep their pact of lies when detectives start asking questions about their missing friend who disappeared 47 years ago, but the truth finally comes to light and the past doesn't remain buried. Pretty fast paced engaging read!
