This book is not at all what I was expecting. It was a beautiful story about conflict and loss. I loved the way the author wrote about such issues like bullying and heartbreak. It was such a beautiful story. I think I want to read the Cinder Series now. :)

I flew through this book so fast. The characters were very enjoyable. I loved how Cinder and Ella spoke anonymously for so long developing their friendship. Some parts were a little not believable in the book but I can see it necessary to make it an actual Cinderella story. I would listen to this book again and recommend to all my friends. Super cute read.

it was so good but also sad
Oh My Gosh! Where do I even begin with this book? This book was everything I couldv'e wanted and more. It follows the story of a girl named Ella, who lives with her single mom after her father abandoned her years ago. Her best friend, she met online through a blog about Ella's favourite series, The Cinder Chronicles. They have been best friends ever since. On Ella's birthday, she was going up to this ski lodge with her mom and was texting her internet friend, Cinder, on the way. However she never made it there due to a car crash that left Ella without a mom and 70% of her body burned. She then has to go and live with her dad's family since she can't take care of herself in this state. She moves in with her dad, a new stepmom, and two step sisters (sound familiar?). Cinder hadn't heard from Ella since the accident and believed she was dead until one day, she gets a message from her realizing she is still alive! The Cinder Chronicles are now becoming movies with Brian aka Cinder, to star as the lead in them. Little does Ella know that her best friend is the famous Brian Oliver because they have never met in person nor seen what the other looks like.
I loved this book so much. I found it so relateable since I have many internet friends who I consider some of my best friends ever. I adored the relationship Brian and Ella shared. It was so cute! *Fangirls*! This book also dealt with some very important topics like mental health, since Ella does not have the best mental health after all she had gone through and I liked how it was addressed. My only complaint was how we didn't see Ella grieve over her mother very much which I found kind of weird. I think we shouldv'e seen her grieve more, especially since she talked about her mom being one of her best friends. It was put in the past very quickly then what would be realistic.
I loved the romance in the book. It was so sweet and adorable. Though Brian could be a little crude at times, it didn't bother me super much. More at the beginning and less towards the end. This is probably one of my favourite romance's I've ever seen in a book. It had all my favourite things (internet friends, best friends turned boyfriend and girlfriend)! I loved how Brian and Ella in general made each other better people. They could always go to the other to talk about anything (well besides toward the end when things happened but that was understood why).
I loved the whole fandom aspect that played into the book as the two main characters were fangirls/fanboys. It was super relateable as I am a fangirl myself (obviously) and I love when authors put this into their books. They would gush about their favourite book series and I loved it!
I also loved the whole aspect of them being friends who met on the internet. As I mentioned before, I have many internet friends personally and I thought it was super cute to see internet friends who fell in love! I don't see this too often in books however I'm sure there are books out there that do have this (which I am now on the lookout for!)
This book in general made me happy. I always had a smile on my face and found myself aweing so much! It filled me with joy and happiness the whole time I was reading it. I never wanted this book to end!
I really want to read the sequel and I defiantly plan too although I am a bit apprehensive due to the fact that I haven't heard the best things about it from my mom. I really just want to see more of these characters together because I love them and they are one of my new book otps! I really want more people to read this book! I recommend this books for fans of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and any fairytale retellings.
As for an age rating, I'd say 14+ however if you were a bit younger, I think you could still read it. There is a bit of swearing and there is mentions of pass hookups from Brian but other than that, it's pretty mild.
I loved this book and can't wait to read the sequel hopefully soon! One of my favourite books I've read this year!

4.5 stars.
This book was all that. It was well written, with great characters. I appreciate that the characters were not ALL good or all bad, they were human with different emotions.
I think I took to Ella immediately because she was a lover of books and a blogger. That made me smile immediately. I could picture her hoarding ARCs and the whole interaction online. It made me think of goodreads.
Ella is so impressive as was Cinder (Brian Oliver). I really empathized wit Ella and what she had been through. I was mad at her father for a while, but I saw there was genuine effort to be better. The sisters were trying even though some of the comments were biting. Ella was highly sensitive, understandably so, so I could see where her step sister Juliet and step mother Jennifer were coming from.
I couldn't stop listening to this book as I was waiting for Ella to heal emotionally and physically. I wanted her to find that joy of life again. This book was truly a joy because the writing was so visceral and I was just entranced with the story. This is the best cinderella YA retellings I've read. I will definitely check out more work by this author
