I really enjoyed this book. I really like the gravekeeper series in general. This probably would be a 4 star or above if we had gained anymore knowledge about Keira's past beyond what we did. Hopefully in the next book we might get some more insight. I really like the characters. I know Zoe is very out there and honestly could get annoying but I really like her character. I absolutely love Adage and wished we got more interaction between him ans Keira, I could see a really cute father daughter bond forming there if we got more from them. I don't know why but I really like Harry. I'm glad we got more of him in this book. Mason....I like Mason I really do. However. I can see where the author is going with him and Keira and I just don't like it. Idk why but I don't. I knew from the first interaction that they are probably going to end up falling in love. Honestly I'll be extremely shocked if by the last book they arent together with how obvious Mason is. Which i wouldnt mind if the hints at it start in say the 2nd book instead of the first. It's just weird to me that it started so early on that you can get those vibes from the first meeting. It's giving mild "born sexy yesterday" vibes. Tho tbh i fell like Zoe and Mason have more chemistry at the moment than Keira and Mason do. Overall the story is a good one. The ghost were cool. I'm always down for a fictional serial killer and I'm super intrigued by the men hunting Keira.
While I like that Keira now has 2 more allies who know that she can see ghost I was honestly shocked at how that came about. I think Mason should give up on becoming a doctor and become a private detective or something with how he put 2 and 2 together. Honestly that goes for Adage a little in the first novel too but at least he had the excuse of being a holy man whose a little more open minded. I'm not opposed to how Mason figured it out it just would have felt more in character who Zoe to be the one jumping to those conclusions.
Over all I'm definitely gonna be continuing the series and honestly already have the 3rd book ordered.

This was fine. I have an arc of the third book and so wanted to read the first two first. Read the first one and had mostly positive things to say about it. This one follows the same formula of ghost story that is solved by the end with running mystery in the background that is largely ignored. I wish we got more answers in this one. I also felt like reading the first one before this one was entirely unnecessary since this one sums up the first book within like five sentences. This one picks up directly after the first one and I think that is a detriment to it. These characters have had no growth and are quite frankly forgettable. If I didn’t have an arc of the third one, I probably wouldn’t read it but since I already have it and it’s fairly short, I might as well read it. If you’re looking for a mystery that involves a ghost but nothing that really stands out about the story then I think you’ll like this series. I also do think it would be a good series for someone younger to get into light horror reading if they’ve never done so. Would probably have really liked this series in middle school.

Fast paced read. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book. I cannot wait to read the third.

4 stars

I really liked “The Whispering Dead” and couldn’t wait to read the next installment in the Gravekeeper series. And “The Ravenous Dead” was even better than I expected it to be. I think it’s all thanks to Keira who is a fantastic character and I came to like her very much through those two books. She’s smart and independent, but also she knows when to agree to accept the help of the others. Also, the life of a small village the author is portraying in her novels is so witty and interesting (when it could be as easily boring and completely irrelevant to the plot).

Beside Keira, there are also other characters that are just as likable as herself. It’s super interesting to see how her relationships are developing and I really am curious to see if she and Mason will be together in the end. As much as I like a good romance theme in the book, I also appreciate that in here it’s really subtle and not taking up most of the plot. It is nice to have but not an obtrusive, ‘in-you-face’ thing.

Now the only thing I can do is to wait for book number 3 and I really can’t wait to see how it develops.
