Loved so much. Salve for the soul, and so relatable.

Some good nuggets, but really all over the place. Maybe good for an 18-20 year old :)

I'm a very goal focused and future oriented person so, I've always struggled with feeling like I'm not doing enough and finding difficulty in being content in the waiting. This book discusses just that plus a lot of other great life lessons in order to better walk with God in life. I would highly recommend giving this a read! Shout-out to my friend Chloe for letting me borrow this. Book swaps with friends are the best.

It took me a week and a half to read but I think it’s because I did not want to rush this one. This is the first non Victorian book I’ve read in 2020 and I felt I’ve gained so much knowledge.

I swallowed this book. It reads like a memoir and is full to the brim with encouragement and truth that Brencher has learned through her own journeys through the deep. If you are transitioning to a new life, feeling stuck where you are, or moving through something that feels impossible, read this book. It has so many important things to say.

Come Matter Here brings us an important message: Stay and matter where you are. Throughout the book we are inspired to stop running after the next big thing, to stop letting fear or pursuit of success in worldly terms run our lives. Instead, come, stay and plant your roots deep. Meaning and making a difference is right before us in the small and simple, not just in the next big happening.

Reading this book is akin to meeting a friend for coffee and sharing deep conversation about real life stuff. It is sharing both the good and the difficult things from every season of life, then sharing the wisdom we’ve gained with others and staying with them as they walk it out.

It’s about not waiting for the next best thing before you invest yourself, but investing yourself full throttle into those around you right now. The writings in this book will open your eyes to every need to open your heart and stop the running. It will provoke you to refuse the lies, set aside fear, and go deep with the community around you.

Hannah’s honest presentation of her struggles paints a vital backdrop for sharing real wisdom with the generations of today.

This book provoked me to go deeper with my own spiritual family and has grown my passion for seeing the Body of Christ get real with one another with honesty and authenticity. As a result, I experienced freedom from lies I believed that had affected me for most of my life. This is similar to what Hannah experienced as she refused to be fearful or to run, and planted herself in community with those around her.

Do not only read this book, let the experiences and wisdom within read you. Glean all the wisdom you can and set your heart to walk out living a deeper, authentic life with those around you.

Choose to go deep beyond surface living. Live and share in honesty—even at the risk of rejection—letting God love you through those around you. Trust God to protect your heart and come matter right where you are. A deeper, beautiful life is waiting!

This book reads like a memoir and pep talk all at the same time. Hannah writes of moving cities when she turned 25. The transition leads her to a new city, knowing no one, but desperately wanting community. We all experience transitions like this and I loved getting to hear Hannahs insight from her life. She reminds me that community is key and is made in the small moments- helping put together furniture, watching the Bachelor, reading scripture, mourning with those who mourn, and celebrating the big and small things. This story was relatable, vulnerable, and full of sweet reminders.

some good quotes:
“I’m learning that life isn’t about the destinations we can boast about getting to; it’s about all the walking in between that feels pointless when you try to take a picture of it because no one will understand it like you do. It’s the in between stuff that fleshes out a story—gives it guts and transformation.”

“I think our purpose is to just show up to the moment we’ve been invited into, the moments other people ask us to come and inhabit with them. We get to be mile markers and cheerleaders. We get to hold signs. We get to have so much purpose when we just look around.”

W O W. This book. My word for the year is “contentment” due to the craziness of 2020. This book spoke deeply to my soul of all the things I am trying to embody. I struggle with being present, and reading through Hannah’s story was very healing to read through.

Hannah never fails to disappoint with her engaging, real talk writing style— when reading this book, you feel as if you're having a one-on-one chat with your go-to friend who gives the best advice. Thankful that these words hit me at this time in my life and thankful for Hannah's inspirational stories.
