I think overall the book was a decent read. The premise was fine, though I very easily pegged one of the main twists from the jump. The tie in at the end was very loose and I feel like there were a lot of threads left loose and not cleared in a way that would’ve made the story more enjoyable. I didn’t really care for hearing Ethan’s perspective at all
and if it was there to infuriate me from his entitled perspective and as a plot device to make him seem less likable, then to some degree it worked
. I will also say that the narration was mostly mid, though I was particularly displeased with the narrator for Cass. She did okay, but there were points of height in the book that I didn’t believe she hit that took me out of the moment. I would likely recommend, but not at the top of the list.

We're All Lying is a domestic thriller that will have you glued to your seat, needing to keep reading and find out what happens next. This salacious tale of secrets and lies is reminiscent of another author I enjoy, Kaira Rouda. So I was delighted to discover she had read We're All Lying and she loved it. Her blurb along with the synopsis convinced me to give it a try.

Cass has a seemingly perfect life, she has a successful business and a family she's proud of. Then an email from her husband's mistress is the first domino to fall and her life quickly spirals out of control. Because it seems the other woman is intent on destroying her and Cass has a past she'd rather stayed buried.

Cass tries to keep up appearances while trying to stop Emma, the mistress, from completely destroying her life. She has the support of her business partner/best friend and her personal assistant Alice is also there. Alice is always there and very knowledgeable and invested in Cass and her life...

When Emma goes missing, it doesn't look good for Cass or her lying cheating husband. They have secrets that will get out. All of this makes Cass unravel, she's a mess and can't really trust herself. She has done and would do anything to protect the life she's built. But would she go so far to kill or is someone setting her up?

We're All Lying is a pretty good choice if you're looking for an escape read. One character in particular is so obviously suspicious right from the beginning. So I wasn't surprised by most of the outcome but there were still some surprises. I will say the writing started out strong but in the second half felt rushed. It turned into more of a telling than showing in terms of final reveals and motives. The end is kind of thrown at you quickly like you jump right to it and everything just happens..

Overall, We're All Lying is an entertaining thriller. Your jaw will drop at the twists and you will be invested in what happens to Cass. Hopefully not as much as Alice is...

Thank you NetGalley and Rising Action Publishing for the e-ARC.

This book had a good premise, but that's where the good features ended. The characters were unbelievable, Cass was the worst - absolutely insufferable, and the plot was nonexistent. The writing style was overly emotive and unnecessarily dramatic and I found that it took away from the story. Sometimes the ending helps wrap up a book better, but this ending didn't make any sense given who Cass was throughout the book and it was a very unsatisfying end.

A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Thank you Rising Action for the ARC of We're All Lying.  All opinions in this review are my own.

Unfortunately, I probably should have DNFed We're All Lying instead of finishing it.  I feel like the back synopsis gave too much away so I kept waiting for Emma's disappearance to happen.  While I wasn't expecting the how the big twist at the end was related to the rest of the story, it wasn't hard to figure out who was behind everything.  I think not revealing so much on the back and cutting out a certain character's point of view would have made this thriller much more thrilling.

I feel like you need to suspend your belief a lot for this book to work. The plot feels more like a soap opera. It just wasn't for me.

It started with an email.
Cass had it all, an undeniable career, two wonderful kids, and an attractive husband… or so she thought. She gets an email from her husband's mistress. Cass' perfect life? Not so perfect anymore. Everything begins to unravel.

Despite the ups and downs, lying and cheating, and downright crazy parts of the plot, this novel immediately captured my attention and held it throughout. Threats are made, there is arson, and before the book is over, at least one person is found dead with another facing charges!

I thought this story was amazing and, aside from a little bit of mild predictability, I truly enjoyed it. If you like thrillers, I'd certainly suggest you give it a try!

Marie Still did a fantastic job!

This narrative was well-suited for the audio narrator, who did a fantastic job.

Thanks, Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, for this ARC.

We’re All Lying by Marie Still

Cass is proud of the life she created for herself. Escaping a troubling childhood, she is in a blissful marriage with two kids. She’s also running her own Company with her best friend. Until, she gets an alarming email from an anonymous person with pictures/videos of her husband cheating on her. Who is this mystery woman? Can she still keep the life she carefully created for herself after being wronged?

I found this book really entertaining. I never know who to trust and who to believe. Still created really complicated and flawed characters who are realistic. I didn’t find the twists as shocking as I would’ve hoped but I would still recommend this book for who those who like psychological dramas!

Talk about a fatal attraction! When you cross an unreliable narrator with several points of view that you realise you cannot trust, it becomes clear that everyone is lying through their teeth. This is part thriller, part mystery, part soap opera. This is a book built on suspense, and it becomes harder and harder to work out who is telling the truth, and which lies are real, and which lies belong to who. You may be lucky and see through some of them, however I can guarantee that not all you read can be believed.

This is the kind of book where you want to empathise with the main character, and Cass is someone you really want to connect with and give the benefit of the doubt. Her own personal focus on herself as a liar became a little grating after a while too. She just makes it so hard to do so. Alice, Cass’ assistant is no better, although it’s clear from the start she has some kind of stalker vibes and is a little unhinged. She is creepy in that she can always account for the stupid things that Cass does. The one perspective we don’t have enough of is from Emma, and I think that is key to this story. Ethan seems like an under-developed character as well, and more about him could have explained some of his behaviour. However, we don’t always want all the pieces.

Happy publication day to “We’re all Lying”, a debut from Marie Still!
