✨Book Review✨

Best friends…Ivy and Aiden. As teenagers, it was a bond once inseparable, now broken. After a suicide attempt, and a couple years apart, they find themselves back in one another’s lives at Lindon U. Grown up and in college together, yet their lives are not the same, and the relationship is now far different.

What I Loved:
-friends to lovers
-sports romance (football player)
-slow burn
-the darkness (these characters have some deep underlying issues) depression, and upbringing play a large part in the makeup of these characters

Know now that if you love dark romance, this series is going to grip you! This is the first of the books, and it is dark and heavy. It deals with love…romantic love and self love, and the fact that those things don’t always exist for people. It’s the journey on how to obtain said love, and keep it, for you can’t love another being, if you in fact don’t love yourself. It is about friendship. And it’s also about harassment and the harsh reality of how cruel people can be to one another.

⚠️CW/TW: per author’s note, this book deals with self-harm and thoughts of suicide, though neither are graphically shown ⚠️

~3.9! i went into this book with high expectations for some reason, so it fell a little flat for me because of the plot/pacing and some things i wanted more closure or development on. but otherwise, the characters saved this book for me. i love ivy and aiden so much <3

This was interesting. I really enjoyed the book. The storyline was unique and that was my favorite part of it. I didn’t know much going in and I think I preferred it like that. Learning of Ivy’s past and where it has gotten her is so emotional and something that is heavy but realistic. Aiden’s mind is one I wanted to explore more when Ivy came back into his life. Especially with the importance of football in it too. It felt rushed to get to that conclusion I knew we would get to but the journey of it could have been interesting. A favorite part was then never saying they were together but it’s like they knew at the same time. The back and forth was one I haven’t really read before so I’m not used to it but I enjoyed it because it gave a refreshing new look at a book couple that I haven’t really read much of.

Dare You To Hate Me deserves a rating more than 5 stars, I’d give it 10 stars if I could! This book is my top read of 2021. You know it’s a good book when you have the butterflies, the pressure like a weight on your chest, the tears, and so much more! This book literally slapped me in the face with emotions and I know it’s gonna take me a long time to get over this book. B Celeste likes to do that. Provide your with such an emotional book that you can never get over because that’s how powerful it is. I for one am so happy with that notion.

Ivy and Aiden are two characters who won’t ever leave you. The struggles the both go through, make you feel for them the entire story. Ivy is a warrior, a survivor. She is the comeback story of the year. Aiden is tough and cares so much for Ivy. Definitely the type of guy any girl wants. The connection between the two is strong. The support they give one another is the support everyone looks for in a friend. Fate brings these two back together, because fate is the key to this couple.

This book is a phenomenal read and I totally recommend it to all. B Celeste has done some amazing thing and written amazing books at such a young age! In complete awe of how talented she is. I really look forward to what is in store from this author, I know it’s gonna be great.
