This was cute! Nothing special but an easy childhood friends to lovers romance. 3.5/5! CW: self harm

I already knew Ivy and Aiden would be together because I read Beg You to Trust Me (book 2 in the Lindon U series) first but I didn’t know the journey they went through to get there. It was certainly an intense journey for Ivy with everything she went through after leaving home. Ivy is a survivor and so reluctant to allow Aiden back into her life. Aiden and Ivy have a long history but haven’t seen each other in four years and Aiden doesn’t want to let Ivy go again. Aiden and Ivy struggled to find solid ground at first but once they do they are solid in only a way they could be. Aiden’s sureness and strength provided comfort and a safe space for Ivy to be.

this book felt weird. at times it was so raw and touching and at others i genuinely had to check if it was written by a man.
the love story is fine, you know second chances / childhood best friends to strangers to lovers hits as always, but i didn’t like how much other people were involved and how much USELESS miscommunication there was (bold on the useless cause i actually can appreciate the miscommunication trope but not when it’s just to drag things out)
aiden is just another sweet football boy with a heart of gold an no bitches cause he loves her and just her (no bitches fr in this one he was archer hales brother). ivy is the interesting one, for better or for worse, i felt her pain but also couldn’t follow how she dropped everything after all the talk in the book about her having control it’s a bit meh.
also aiden was so fun cause when you are reading his pov he is like “i understand the things she went through and respect her and would never hurt her” and then he opens his mouth and says the most unprovoked sexist things like and ruins everything 😭
