While I like some of the characters - Sadie, Carter, Bes, Bast, Setne, Anubis - and the adventure rumbles along satisfactorily, I do think the Kane trilogy is the least impressive of Riordan's series. Or maybe I'm just too familiar with his writing now. Magnus Chase is my favourite.
That said, of course, Riordan at his most mediocre beats most other children's/YA authors hands down. Maybe the Egyptian pantheon just isn't as interesting as the Greco-Roman or Norse. More likely, too much of the interesting stuff wasn't usable for a pre-teen market (incest, gore etc).
In conclusion: highly recommended, but not as highly as Riordan's other work.

I really loved this conclusion to the trilogy! There were some surprises, but it fit in with the story line very well.
As always, the chapter titles made me crack up. 'Sadie Rides Shotgun (Worst. Idea. Ever.)' Ha! Also, "Zia," he warbled happily, as if singing a nursery rhyme. "Zia, Zia, Zia." Soooooooo CUTE!
The ending with the Sadie-Walt-Anubis love triangle was. . . . interesting. Personally, it wasn't great.
However, overall, Wonderful ending!
