Simple story line, with a noble cause and a side story of romance. The good lawyer wins, the bad guys lose. All very satisfying. Basically motherhood and apple pie.
I really enjoyed the case - about taking on an insurance company that was scamming people with their policies - and that part of the story felt timely, despite this being published more than 20 years ago. But the secondary plot, where the lawyer falls in love with and helps an abused woman, didn’t work as well for me.

Typical John Grisham book, story moves fast, keeping you interested all the way through. A few lucky breaks, few expected situations, and a few surprises. If you're looking for an easy, interesting read, you'll like this book from John Grisham.
Very readable with a charming protagonist in Rudy. I liked all the legal talk and drama. Found the romance underwhelming, but sweet. Ending was bad.

An entertaining if somewhat fanciful story mocking sleazy lawyers, pretentious lawyers, and dastardly insurance companies. I've also just resigned myself to the fact that John Grisham sucks at writing endings, so I'm never disappointed.
