I’m both heartbroken with the breakup at the beginning and excited at the prospect of a new relationship for Ophelia. It was a fun read, I’m not too invested in the series but I do enjoy the banter and adventure.

This was great! I love the characters, and the plot is fast-paced, striking a great balance between drama and action.

My only critique is that I wished the characters went on more of a journey together. They remained in the same setting for most of the book, which did lead to some good interactions, but I missed the dynamic of seeing them out on an adventure. While we get some standout moments with individual characters, this book lacked some of the elements that made the previous book so compelling. I hope the next two books delve deeper into the side characters' perspectives, as they felt a bit sidelined in this one.

This book jumps straight back in around a month after the ending of the previous installment. There are multiple POVs throughout this one, so we get chapters from the perspective of a few different characters.

First things first, I just wanted to say that I love the way the author explores the PTSD and mental struggles that Malakai is going through following oknfrom the traumatic events he experienced in book 1. I think sometimes it's easier for authors to act like the character hasn't gone through anything and skip past them dealing with it all, so I really enjoyed seeing that aspect through book 2. It did however piss me off seeing him take it all out on Ophelia, and he lowkey started to really get on my nerves the more I read. He was just constantly throwing little temper tantrums, and I was like come on girl you can do better than him 👀

Let's talk about Tolek. Tolek is my favourite MMC in the series so far, he just gives off such golden retriever energy. And he's totally obsessed with Ophelia. He would 100% be my choice over Malakai, he's the most supportive and is always there when she needs him. He's also such a shameless flirt, and I love all the little moments they've had. It's been obvious that he's in love with Ophelia from the start of book 1, and his proclamation of his love to her... it's been a long time since a book has made my heart flutter like that.

Now I am beyond glad that I'm reading this series now and not as each book was being released, because if I had to WAIT to see what happens next after the way this book ended... I would not have survived. The last 20% of this book was just purely devastating, and pretty much every characters life was hanging in the balance. The action scenes were amazing, and I really enjoyed the big battle. Again, the pacing was quite fast and overall I thoroughly enjoyed every single part of this installment. The big reveal about part of Damien's prophecy was super intriguing, can't wait to see how that'll play out Literally could not put it down, and will be going straight into book 3

This book made me mad at times, but the overall plot was wonderful!

Super mid but I’m desperate for a Romantsy read. Malakai’s and Ophelia’s relationship after he was rescued was very sad. Both lost in their own pain and not willing to trust each other, despite pining for each other the whole time. Heartbreaking. I cried when they broke up. Her getting with Tolek I liked I guess. Writing still pretty corny.  Wanted more of the magic system. Fae interaction super underdeveloped.
