The Shards of Ophelia
By @bynicoleplatania
♾️/5⭐️

Nicole really put meaning to the quote “you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it.” This book gave everything that we needed.

We not only got to watch the fall out of Ophelia’s revelations in Book 1, but you started the healing journey with both Ophelia and a certain someone (who shall not be named for the sake of spoilers).

This book opens your eyes to this marvelous world in a whole new way. Book 1 focuses on the terrain, the wild, and the journey Ophelia and her friends make.

But Shards introduces you to the politics, the traditions, and the “normal” life of the Mystique Warriors. There’s training and balls and festivals. It truly feels like you’re experiencing it yourself.

And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my one true love, Tolek. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that @lbcreads and I are in a battle to be Tolek’s wife (but I’m pretty sure I’m winning).

His care, love, and support for Ophelia and the rest of their friends is truly unmatched. It’s like he was made to perfectly counter his friends in every way.

This book also made me love Cypherion more. He is the group dad and I think we all need someone like him in our life.

So once again, I will plead with you to go read The Curse of Ophelia, and if you already have, then tomorrow, you can dive straight into Shards!

SOOOO GOOD! The first book was a bit slow and I believe could have had more potential but was good book for a debut novel and helped set the scene. this 2nd book was *chefs kiss* it was giving acomaf/acowar vibes. (re: tiny inn one bed, love, war, father rip)

take a shot every time a character holds a huge secret that will put everyone in danger. I truly do feel bad for Malakai as he was put in an unfortunate situation and then Ophelia turned around and did the same thing. He went through so much and sacrificed a lot for her safety and I feel like he didn’t deserve all the hate he received, as Ophelia was very hypocritical (which luckily she acknowledges in the end). But, I could already see the development and growth for them and learning their mistakes, so I hope in book 3 they will continue to grow. I’m glad they ended things and realized they were only bringing out the worst parts of each other. He deserves love too, I’m looking at you Mila??

TOL TOL TOL. the bff to lovers pipeline is GIVINGGGG. That man was day 1 since the beginning and I’m so glad it happened. BUT HE NEEDS TO WAKE UP.

Wow what a SIGNIFICANT improvement from the first book! Book 1 was a 3.5⭐️ for me mainly because the pacing was so slow and it took me a while to get into it, but that was NOT at all the case with book two! The character development from our FMC and MMC were absolutely INCREDIBLE. The found family was perfection, I’m such a sucker for books where you fall in love with the side characters and the platonic relationships and this book made me do exactly that. The romance plot…. Like NOTHING I’ve ever read and I absolutely LOVED IT, I cannot wait to see where that goes…. The action and fighting scenes were so well done. Was it perfect? No. But I had a lot of fun reading this book and am definitely emotionally invested in these characters and can’t wait for book 3!

Calling all fantasy romance lovers - if you want a story of a FMC that is relatable, raw, and real... look no further.

Ophelia really annoyed me in the first book. No, seriously, I was yelling at her a lot. By the end of this book, I was proud of how far she's come. She still has things to figure out (don't we all?) but I loved how true she stuck to herself.

All my issues with the pacing and world building in the first book are gone by this book. You're so immersed in the world and uniqueness of the characters and their cultures.

Please, please, please read this!!!

I loved this book so much. I swear Nicole, if anything happens to Tol, I will cry even more. This book made me fall in love with the character building and Ophelia even more. Not only do you have the found family, but it’s finding oneself within others also. I can’t wait till the Trials Of Ophelia. I need it now

TRULY! A masterpiece, this book did an entire 360 compared to book 1. YES YES YES! This is a 5 star read for me, the feelings that I’m feeling during this series has been truly locked in. On to the next!
