I enjoyed the book and loved Ophelia and Tolek together but I just felt like the pacing was off at the end and some parts just didn’t make sense like with Vale and that whole part with her visions?? What did we learn from that? And even with Tolek getting injured and him being randomly back at the infirmary with no explanation about what happened?? And then with the villain just vanishing??  It just seemed some things were wrapped up too quick with no explanation. Overall I liked the story though and will continue the series.

Where the first book in this series took a minute to hook me, this one had me from start to finish and I’ll be picking up book 3.

Everything is not as it seems in the world and we see heartache, betrayal, newfound allies and so much more. I loved getting to learn more about the characters and the growing Ophelia and Malakai are going through makes for a character driven narrative even as we see battles and war.

Okay, so this one hooked me! I really like how this story is progressing and I am excited to read about the new quest they have to complete. I also appreciate how the characters relationships changed and matured and I'm happy with the direction they are going.

I am still having a hard time connecting with Ophelia. She's kind of bratty and selfish BUT she is making some great changes it seems and is experiencing some strong character development. Towards the end of the book I started to like her a lot more.

The other characters in the book are fantastic and relatable. Visualization is done really well and I'm able to put myself right in each scene.

We learn a lot more about the magic systems in this book and I'm hoping we will continue building as the series progresses.

For fear of accidentally spoiling things, I’ll make this brief.

I loved it. I adore all of these characters. Ophelia is still cursed, but it’s fine, everything is fine. *cue GIF of the house on fire*

If certain characters don’t get the happiness they deserve in the next book I’m grabbing my pitchforks and we’re going on a riot. Read this series. Please. It’s amazing in my opinion.

Another excellent book in TCOO, you get into the nitty gritty of it in this book. So many characters bring new raw emotions to the table. And the love interest? YES! The ending of this book broke my heart in several ways, here’s to hoping the next book brings some healing for us (the readers) and our heroine, Ophelia.

A great second book in the series. I wish there was more closure or resolution. Finding answers to the puzzle are a bit slow moving. And I feel like kakias keeps getting away. I really did enjoy it, but the first book was better and I’m hoping the next book has more resolutions.
