I was ... ridiculously disappointed with this book. I really enjoyed their first novel, so the fact that I didn't enjoy this one very much upsets me a lot. I didn't really buy their feelings together because they spent so much time either fighting or faking feelings, I felt the whole thing with Cruz McNeil was blown aside and not taken nearly as seriously enough as it should've been, I honestly just found Max to be annoying especially because of some highly overdone miscommunication moments. Miscommunication was pretty much the basis for their entire relationship honestly and that's not much of a plot.

Where do I start with this one.

There is no depth to this story. Where is the character growth, where is the conversation, the vulnerability?

All we get is superficial level dialogue in between so much telling and minimal showing.
I had enough of this characters not talking to each other. Because they don't talk, when a significant action does happen it seems so out of place because there is no meaningful dialogue to warrant it.

Enemies-to-Lovers.
Holiday season.
Country Music.

What more could a girl want?

This is my favorite novel so far this Christmas season. I truly enjoyed all the back and forth between Max and Sadie. Their story wasn’t rushed but it was far from lacking, the authors perfectly wrote each character and their development was chef’s kiss. I can honestly recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, fun, holiday read.

This book was just not it for me. I was counting down the pages until I finished. I thought about dropping it multiple times, however I pushed through. The only reason it doesn't get 1 star is becuase I finished the book.

I can say that it doesn't get better; it only gets worse. It felt like a Wattpad story. Maybe it is. I don't know. Anyways, the writing wasn't that good, the characters didn't have consistent personalities, and the two main character's only solution was to fight and then run away. It was repetitive. It was annoying.

It also just wasn't a Christmassy book. It didn't get me into the mood. It just felt like two 4-year-olds running around and hiding from each other and compalining about how they couldn't be together. It's pretty much just a story about a middle school relationship but it's acted out by people who are 28.
