DID NOT FINISH: 25%

DNF at 25%. The concept was interesting. had high expectations. the world building was below average, the dialogue was unnatural and it felt like a disney channel show, the characters were boring and redundant and i found myself not caring about them. this was supposed to be an intense prison why are people running around like they owned the place???? also the repetitive use of “increading my pace to keep up with his long legs” in some form or another is ANNOYING. weve had 3 interactions between the fmc and mmc why does it mention her being tiny and trying to keep up with his long legs, and his HUGE biceps.

I liked this, really interesting world and makes me want to read the next one. The main couple was really good and written really well.
Finally the one bed trope and done right. Such a good chapter.
I think I struggled at the start to get into this, as the writing is quite different very metaphorical and in third person which throws you off a bit.
I hate when there is a late act problem, like obviously I know they have to keep it interesting but it always feels so forced. Like Takeshi had no choice but to write the lists, otherwise they would hurt him and make it anyway. He was saving her the person he loved. She is allowed to be angry but needed to be more understanding.
Really just need to read the second now, we didn’t get enough of the romance, but I do love a slow burn. I also appreciate that this book is a bit shorter then a normal fantasy which normally drags on.

I had fun reading it. And I there were definitely some enjoyable parts. But some characters felt more underdeveloped than mysterious. Which made some actions that they took just confusing.

I enjoyed reading it but it was little unrealistic in some parts. I’ll be reading the next one anyways.
