Good as I remembered, nice to visit a Nora Roberts book that isn't part of a series.

It took me time to get into the book, asking myself "where are we going with this", but since it was a big book, I knew to stick with it and yes it became a murder mystery, with romance on the side. I liked it, but I felt the "who done it" a bit predictable, but I still enjoyed it to the end

I love Nora Roberts books and have pretty much them all but this is my favpurite stand alone story and the one i reread most often. The books are predictable in that tney always follow a pattern but Nora does seem to be able to come up with the most amazing plots. The flashbacks are small, more like chapter intos, as i'm not too keen on trying to keep up where i am. I think with this one its the fish out of water hero and chipthe size of alaska on her shoulder heroine that really grabbed my attention and being set in a part of the world that has a certain literary allure ( i'm sure alaskan living in reality can be harsh) certainly helps. As a starter to Nora, would recommend this, Blue Smoke and the Circle Trilogy

Nora's a terrific storyteller. Plus, it was set in Alaska! Two thumbs up.

Weird romance but good mystery, I was surprised

I've read this and listened to the audio book several times. I really like the story. I've never been disappointed by Nora Roberts.

Nora Roberts sure does have a way with words. She weaves them into this poetic and descriptive story that makes your imagination explode with all the images invoked. Northern Lights was a story of a man, trying to find his way back to the light. His road to recovery and finding a reason to live takes place in a small town in Alaska. Along the way he becomes a part of the town and its people, finds his place and loves again. Giving him a push in that direction is a cold case and a supposed suicide. That gives him purpose. Add in the colourful characters, small town living and the beautiful backdrop of the Alaskan range, you have a wonderful story of love, friendship and living.
