It was wonderful to read a romance novel with a BLACK woman as the love interest!! I wish I had had Talia's books when I was younger, and I'm so glad that younger people have access to these stories now. As a person with family members on the spectrum, it was beautiful to read a story with the main character on the spectrum- written authentically- as well. I think the book balanced difficult topics such as intimate partner violence with the exciting nature of a new relationship well. It didn't feel like Talia jumped from one subject to the other too quickly. There were times when I was literally squealing at how adorable the main couple is. The story is fast-paced and there were some scenes that I wish we could have gotten more from! For example, I would have loved to see the scene where Evan has dinner with Ruth's family for the first time. I wanted to see an interaction between Patience and Evan because they don't have one for the entire book . Otherwise, I LOVED this story and I can't wait to read more of Talia's work. this book was sooooo cute. it was a good read to get the stress off of my mind. i also liked that the female mc was a black woman who just got to fall in love and be happy. ruth deserved so much and i’m glad that she found evan. he is so sweet and nice and respectful and he was really kind to her. i want that type of relationship. i also like the spice. overall it was a really good book.
