real stories with actionable results

Great book that covers a variety of different situations and tactics to be a better leader and communicator. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their leadership qualities.

One of the books that wanted to read twice, with the first time when it was released back in 2015-6. Twelve leadership principles in the following format: What happened in battle, since the main author Jocko is an ex-Navy Seals, discussion-definition of the principle, followed by applications in businesses based from the consultancy currently operaeted by them.

Book is split into three parts with each discussing one principle. From each one of them the ones that grabbed my attention most was "Extreme Ownership", "Prioritize and Execute", and "Discipline Eguals Freedom - The Dichotomy of Leadership".

Although read twice, I will get back to it to steal some quotes for further use :).

Would be better without the Iraq war apologia
informative reflective fast-paced

I loved the structure of sharing a combat story, followed by a summary of the principal, then a real-world/ business application of the principal. The book follows its own advice of being simple, following a structure, and communicating the most necessary info. 10/10 everyone should read this book.
informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

Sharp, intense, realistic. Gives insightful examples and relatable situations for immediate application.
informative medium-paced

Had to read for work, military propaganda if that’s your thing but some of the leadership tips were effective. Skipped through a lot of  the war stories toward the end and just read the principle and application sections

This book is simply about taking control of your life through taking responsibility for everything that happens. Although that might sound undesirable, when you take ownership of teh things happening and your part in them, you gain the ability to actively participate in your situation rather than passively accepting it. Through a series of Marine vignettes and business cases, Willink & Babin provide a much more effective way of seeing the situations you are in and how to affect them positively.

Read this for book club and it was not my cup of tea!

All managers and supervisors were required to read this book for work. Inspiring and instructional without being textbook boring.
