Great book that reshaped my understanding of leadership. The book is laid out in an easy to follow way with great examples. I will definitely be implementing what I learned in my career as an Air Force Officer and beyond.

Has great advice and tips, but can get a little redundant.

Excellent book on leadership from two former Navy Seals. Their approach of presenting military related leadership principles employed during their tours of combat duties are clearly applied to business (and life). Effective leadership is extreme ownership.

Read this for a group at work. As what some may call a hippie pacifist, the first person narrative takes on the idea of killing humans too lightly for me. These guys also just come across as completely cocky which is funny considering they want you to balance your egos.

If you just want to read their "business takeaways" it's a fine book but could have just been an article.

This could have been a pamphlet.  The principles are what matter, it's just repackaged in testosterone.

Once I reached p. 120 or so and saw them use a fifth example to make the exact same point, I figured the rest of the book wasn't worth bothering with and returned it to the library.

I don't like business books - but I like this one. It is the only one, outside of Cory Bouck's "The Lens of Leadership" that I would read again, keep in my library and recommend to others. What I liked best about this book is that they took an example in their military life and paired it with an example from their business consulting life. The examples were very tangible and - most importantly - actionable.

This book was recommended to our agency by a colleague/friend. And he's very passionate about the teachings. I don't blame him. There is much for our agency to embrace and take hold of. Looking forward to helping it engage on the principles taught in this and Cory's book.

Enjoy!

Excellent book. Maybe the best book on leadership I've ever read. To the point.

I didn't take this book very seriously when I picked up. That changed with every chapter, as my respect for Jocko and Leif grew. This book is the counterpoint to Machiavellian leadership. The intuitive ground work for being an effective and admirable leader is laid out in this book.
