While the leadership advice was sound... I did not enjoy the overuse of the term “bad guys” throughout the book. Also knowing what we know now about the lies and deceit to get us into Iraq... all these stories of “heroism” and death (both sides) is just extremely sad.
Audiobook: Kind of slow to listen to when applying to business. The first hand experiences in SEAL training and missions that base their principles are great, though. And they expertly apply these principles to business and life with real life examples that they worked with.
Completely transformed my understanding of what it means to function in and lead a team toward a goal. AWESOME book.

The principles are great and can be utilized within business and leadership. As for the SEAL combat stories, they don’t intrigue me. I know this is where the principles come from but I don’t relate to combat books/stories. I would recommend if you are not a fan of combat stories, to read the Principle and Application to Business areas at the end of each chapter. You can get the same great information without the combat details.
Some of the military examples are a bit verbose but they communicate the topic of the chapter pretty well. I think all leaders should read it, very very well put together!
The concepts are strong but not unique to this leadership book and though the outline is certainly valuable, the anecdotes are repetitive and gratuitous.
So good, I almost killed an entire highlighter getting through this one. Now I'm going to go back, read it again, and plan my lessons/draw my parallels for my team.
