5/5 stars. An amazing end to one of the most brilliant fantasy series of my time.

This was an amazing book! The cover is gorgeous, and the content is too. It's very war focused, and has harrowing, scarring events in it. The characters and their world are forever changed. However, Kingdom of Ash also has a beautiful ending, and beautiful moments within. I enjoyed everyone's perspectives, and the story itself. I was a bit bored by Aedion's perspective for the first half of the book, but he became more interesting. I think it took me the first hundred pages of the book to really get into it (which is fine - that's all of ten percent). Aelin, Lysandra, Elide, Yrene, Dorian, Manon, Chaol, Rowan, Fenrys, Gavriel, Lorcan, Evangeline - I love them all. I am so sad this series is over, but it was an excellent conclusion. I look forward to rereading the series in months and years to come. 5 stars!

“to whatever end.” : the longest review ever

I have NEVER in my entire life read a greater ending to a series. I love these characters SO MUCH that this ending broke me, healed me, shattered me, then made me whole again. The entire book was emotionally insane.

Aelin Ashryver Whitehorn Galathynius. THERE WILL NEVER BE A BETTER MAIN CHARACTER! Brilliant. JUST Brilliant.

A love letter to Aedion Ashryver; don’t fuck things up with Lysandra this time. I was ride or die for them since the beginning.

Dorian “I’ll bleed whatever color you want.” HAVILLAIRD! Princeling. Named after his father dude!!! My eternal baby sunshine…my heart broke for this man from the start all the way to the end. I want him to be happy with his Queen of Witches. They are endgame…no questions asked.

Lorcan & Elide….LISTEN. Him saying, “Ask me to marry you.” If I wasn’t already in tears I would have been crying. Following her saving him and him telling her to let him go to save herself. AND SHE SAID NO, “if we go, we do it together.” EW!

Gavriel. I will need 1000 years to get over this. I knew deep in my heart he would sacrifice himself for his son and nothing could stop it from hurting.

Fenrys Moonbeam…I will love you forever. I am here, I am with you.

ROWAN WHITEHORN GALATHYNIUS!!! there will never be a man who loves Aelin the way she deserves more than him AND THAT HURTS ME DUDE!

Chaol Westfall…my lord. My love. YOUR WIFE LITERALLY SAVED THE WORLD! And he deserves the love of such a spectacular woman as Yrene Towers.

Finally, the part that gutted me. THE THIRTEEN! Manon Blackbeak is THAT BITCH, but Asterin Blackbeak…I hope she finds peace and knows that her love changed the world.

“From now until the darkness claims us.”
