Overall very unmoved. Nothing groundbreaking, gut wrenching, soul shattering. It just was. This series does not compare to ACOTAR or FW, I’m sorry. It feels like a copycat with slight shifts. Like FW meets ZA. The bullying, overbearing MMC dragged for too long. The relationship was so toxic and not in a delicious way in a very cringe way. Then the insertion of the side guy was just underwhelming, I still don’t understand the point or angle here. This has been on my TBR for a while so I wa looking forward to this but…I literally wish I had not. The spice wants to be there and it’s sexy but it lacks the build up that really gets you going. Idunno. Not my favorite. Probably not coming back for the rest of it.
The Bond that Burns is a great sequel to On Wings on Fire. This time, it was a bit slower, and there were moments where I had enough of drama between main characters, but still I'm so addicted to this series that I just read it in 24h ( ok ok this book was much shorter 😅).
Once again, I have to say that as a ZA fan, I can see so many similarities, but still, surprisingly, I dont mind them. But isn't it normal that authors are inspired by other books to write their stories? In my opinion, as long as it is a "healthy" inspiration, then it's nothing wrong with it.
let's talk about the main characters. Blake - super grumpy alpha vampire, who doesn't know how to be gentle, understanding, or even apologetic. Quiet often behave like a nasty bully.
And then we have Medra. I like her for being badass and super stubborn, but sometimes that stubbornness is going too far, and I just want to kick her butt for that.
Also there is few more side characters that I truly adore.
I found this instalment a bit less tense, but still, a lot of happened, and the ending... Well, let me tell you, I do not cry, but here I was very close to it.
The romance element is... hmmm, how to describe it? It's tense, spicy, and sometimes explosive. On the other hand, sometimes too rushed, especially after drama. But can you fight your mate? Or can you fight the bond?
Definitely, I can't wait for the beginning of next year to continue my journey with this series and find out how everything goes, especially after that cliffhanger, which i experienced in book 2.
