When I started this book, everyone I asked said that technically speaking Elin Hildebrand’s books have gotten more intricate with better plot so I was nervous I wouldn’t like the book.

The only problem I had with the book wasn’t her writing stylistically, but her character Mack. I just couldn’t see his character arc and really disliked the way he was jumbled into the story with relationships and the way he treated the women in them.

I guess I do see how Elin Hildebrand has evolved because her characters are becoming more human. Even in the hotel nantucket the “bad guys” had redeemable qualities and when I think of the human condition that is writing that appeals to me the most.

A cute little summer novel. There was nothing I disliked about it but there was also nothing I loved. The characters were all believable, the plot resolved well, and I am a big fan of the author’s writing style. Happy to get this off my shelf and in to the hands of the next reader!

This is EH’s debut novel and it shows. If I were to compare this against her more recent works, this could have gotten a 2 or even 1 star. The characters weren’t especially likable and there were several plot lines (and plot holes) that left me with a lot of questions. Let’s just say I’m glad she got better at her craft!
