I loved so many parts of this book. Anna Paquin reading the audiobook made it come alive. I can’t believe the shitty classics I read in school when this was the kind of coming of age foundational classic literature about lesbian and class struggle was right there

The protagonist was so interesting to me. I loved her story and found myself laughing out loud throughout some of her shenanigans. I especially loved her lover pushing the man down the stairs and the scene of showing her independent film. I would have given it 5 starts but the insest commentary was way too much for me. I did find it hilarious that she hooked up with the whole family though. And the grapefruit scene. Oh my lord. Hilarious. Amazing and sad this is still so relavent today.

An interesting insight of the experience of and attitudes towards being gay back in the day. It was humorous and I enjoyed Molly’s strong and unwavering character, but I don’t think I’d read it again.

This books is really raw, full of funny and sweet moments as well as disturbing ones. You follow the main character and can really feel every part of her emotions seeping from the page.
It does show its age but is still a very worthy read

I LOVE MESSY LESBIANS.
dividing the chapters numerically as certain "eras" of Molly's life really helped each chapter open and close with substance. there was hardly any waiting around for something interesting to happen. the long paragraphs of text hardly broken up by any more than a comma were a little hard to get through, but i retained it alright.
this book reminds me a lot of being a baby gay and growing up rowdy and boyish. watching Molly's sexuality progress through the story reminded me a lot of my own experiences figuring myself out. the only difference being i was not nearly as successful at getting the girls lol
