Can see why this is a lesbian classic, it hasn't aged all that well.
Grounded and real. IMO nothing profound or poignant, but it was just life. Interesting at least, but I wouldn’t read again. I Just think I like books that make me think a lot more than feel (if that makes sense), and this is a feeling book.
I appreciated the representation of protag as a strong independent lesbian. I love that she never cowers from who she is- I think if I read this when I was first coming out then she would have been a really great example for me. I can feel her anger at the world and how unjust it is. I wish she could have found some peace, but I understand why she didn’t.

I don't know how I feel about this book.
I am not in any way like Molly...I guess I'm honest and have clear boundaries and thats where it stops... I think being around her would be draining like 24/7. However, I do know people who would love her charming Huck Finn like ways.
The introduction by the author leaves me breathless every time I read it, and I've read it so many times.
Looking at Molly through that lens makes me know that we all turn out alright in the end, and, truly, it doesn't matter how we get there...somebody else's journey is none of our business.

I liked this a lot, always a sucker for a lesbian coming of age novel, always a sucker for a lesbian novel set in the 60s and 70s, always a sucker for a novel that gives insight into lesbian cultural clashes
