I thought this book was great! This was my first time reading for fun, and this book had me turning page after page after page without even noticing time going by. Mikki's ability to write each character to the point where I knew who was talking in any scene was quite special. Each character was distinct and memorable, and you really got to see Kyle's thought process throughout the story. I enjoyed the short chapters and scene by scene structure of the book.
The story it's self I enjoyed. I'm not one for "it was all a dream" tropes at all, but since the rest of the book was dedicated to Kyle finding Marley in real life, I was grateful we were given the opportunity as the reader to explore that. I think she did a great job of capturing Kyle's healing throughout the book. We feel his frustration and confusion after we wakes up because we want him to be happy with Marley too, and no one believes him! I truly did not expect where this story was going to go, but the twist when he woke up was a true TWIST! I gasped out loud reading that.
This book made me cry, it made me giggle and kick my feet, and made me laugh. It had me lost in Kyle's world with the ducks and the pond, his internship, and the hospital.
The only thing I did not enjoy was the ending, I thought it was very fantastical after everything we had just read which was pretty realistic. It felt forced that both twins would get hit by a car and they were speaking to each other in dreams? The end was just weird. It doesn't change how I feel about the rest of the book, however. I'm just glad we got a happily ever after.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster. When he finds out it all a dream my heart physically and mentally sank. Glad we got the happy ending.
Moderate: Child death, Blood, Car accident
Minor: Cursing
Okay. I am in LOVE with this book, but it did NOT just do that.
Like, says that it was all a dream, MID-WAY!!! The author really said imma mess with you and you're gonna love it. Like, I have never hated and loved a book as much as I did this one. In the end though, I really loved the plot twist, and as complicated as it was, that only made the book better.

I'm putting 5 stars but the actual rating is 4.75. This was a beautiful story and there were so many plot twists that happened that literally made me like ??? I do think they added a bit too many twists toward the end though that were a little rushed and unnecessary but overall, I was very moved by this book as a whole and I'm so glad I decided to impulse buy it at HPB
