I don’t give five star ratings to books often. Not that I don’t love and adore books and the stories within, but because I find myself holding back for the truly incredible.

I’m so thankful to my dear friend Shelby for recommending this - even when I stopped partway and told her in not so many words that I’d hate her forever if she gave me another book that was going to tear me in two.

This lovely book is a story of heartbreak and hope, loss and grief and love. Conversations we wish we could have, and the bravery it takes to say something when the moment is right. What makes us who we are, and how others can find us when we’ve all but given up. And most importantly, love. It’s about love.

DNF @50%… I really wanted to love it because Five Feet Apart set my heart on fire and the cover was so beautiful but I had a hard time. I felt that I could relate to how Kyle felt because I understand mourning and grief but the discovery that he was in a coma the entire time turned me off of the entire book. I couldn’t finish after that. This was executed poorly and I’m disappointed. It’s like all the times in high school where my English teachers would say ending a story with “and it was all a dream” was the worst was just proven. I hope y’all have better luck.

I loved 5 Feet Apart, so seeing this book, I knew I was probably going to enjoy it just as much.

All This Time follows Kyle, a young man who just graduated high school and is going to be going to college with his best friend/girlfriend Kimberly. However, on graduation night she tells him she is going to a different college and thinks they need to find out who they are without one another.

Tragedy hits and Kyle now has no choice but to try to move on with his life. Kyle doesnt believe he will ever be happy again, until he meets Marlie. She is dealing with her own loss and together they understand one another.

Kyle's story doesnt end there. Can space and time keep love apart?

This book was wonderfully creative and heartbreaking. I said 'oh no' out loud more than once while reading. I really enjoyed how much this book drew me into the story.

I thought this was good, but not great; I think I am definitely older than the target audience and probably would’ve liked it more 10-15 years ago. The heart of the story was there and the concept in the second half was great. I found the characters a little hard to like (the protagonist was extremely bland and the love interest was giving the 2020-version of a manic pixie dream girl) and the pacing to be a little off (the first half of the book felt slow, and although the slowness makes sense by the end of the book, it was a little too late; the ending also felt rushed). It didn’t click for me that this was supposed to have the structure of a modern fairytale until I read the acknowledgments, and I think that perspective really makes all of this book’s quirks make a lot more sense.

Once upon a time ....

Guy main character (forgot his name :P) is written mediocrely, but Marley? I freaking loved Marley. I don't even like romance and this was amazing. I personally headcannon Marley as autistic (I doubt she actually is but idc, she's autistic to me) and I think that's at least 75% of why I loved this book. I generally have this snobby "I'm above reading romance novels" attitude, but I really really liked this book. I have some of Lippincott's other books on my TBR.
