Another absolutely fabulous read for me. Over 600 pages of family saga, secrets, love, death, acceptance, addiction told through a story across different generations.
The story centres around Posy from her childhood until her 70th birthday which lays bare the secrets a family can hold and the consequences of those secrets on others. Like each of Lucinda Riley’s books her characters are so well written - I adore them and you buy Into their lives from the first page and like The Love Letter I didn’t want this one to end either. Home appears to be a central theme and this book is no different - Admiral House sounds divine and the fact that characters are appealing no matter their ages makes this for a superb read.

Het bouwde zich langzaam op, maar daarna was het een leuk verhaal. Lucinda Riley schrijft op een erg prettige manier, waardoor je binnen no time door het boek vliegt. Aanrader!

Well, she has done it again, a big book with a big heart, filled with wonderful characters, stunning surroundings. Nothing but a joy to read.
Of course you will still need a box of tissues to hand as her trademark relationships are never plain sailing and this book proved to be a real tear jerker towards the end but having read all her other books I was prepared this time around. Not that I saw what was coming, just that I knew I would no doubt be shedding a tear or two at some point!
This is another all nighter of a book as well, I read straight through the night as there was no point in the book that I could put the story down for the night so be prepared to be completely consumed start to finish. The cast of characters are wonderfully written as is the setting of Admiral House where you can see in your minds eye the house and the gardens, even with my very limited knowledge of plants it was easy to envision as they are being described making the whole book a pleasure and easy to read.
Set on a dual time line between the 1940s and 2006 it follows the life of Posy Montague from her childhood to her seventieth birthday it is a tale of love, loss, secrets, friendship and family that is impossible not to love.
Now having finished this book in one sitting I will have to wait until the end of October for her next book!

If you are already familiar with Lucinda Riley's books then you know that you are guaranteed a brilliant page turner of a book.
If you are new to her work then settle down, make yourself comfortable, turn off your mobiles and any other distractions, grab a large mug of tea or coffee and be prepared to meet your new favourite author!
As with all her other books, this one is a genuine pleasure to read and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book along with all her other novels, especially the Seven Sisters series.
Lucinda is not only a very talented writer but is a lovely person as well, so everyone should read at least one of her books and discover the magic for yourselves.
