All those coffee memes, the teenage behavior the redundancies got on my nerves. Otherwise solid story.

Holy cliffhanger, Batman.

I always enjoy the sarcasm in Darynda Jones books, and this does not disappoint.

There were so many plot points I just did NOT see coming in this book. And they were all so GOOD.

I can't believe I have to wait until October for the next book. This is going to be difficult.

I have really been enjoying this series and this book has become my favorite in the series so far. Even though it had the trademark humor that I've come to expect from Darynda Jones, that's not why I loved it. It delivered so much plot and character development that I was hooked - finished the book in 2 days - and I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

I don't want to spoil anything, so this review is going to be a bit brief I think. Some questions we've been circling were answered finally, but a bunch of new questions emerged as well. We understand more about the magic and Charmlings... but now I have a whole new slew of questions that I can't wait to see developed in future books. Nanette found this prophecy that has me all kinds of curious!! There was a TON of character development and things progressed quite a bit between Defiance and Roan.

This book ended on a bit of a cliff - not like a huge one, but OMG it was quite a final paragraph. Oh and I listened to this one (as always with this series) and I've grown to really love Traci Odom's narration. I'm guessing she'll be narrating the next book too, but it will be from Nanette's perspective, so I'm interested to see how she approaches that change.

Traci Odom continues to deliver a fantastic performance for this series. She catches the personalities, especially the back-and-forth between Def and Nette so well. She catches the mood, which ranges from humor, sultry, and emotional, superbly.

I buddy read this with Sophia (she's also giving it 4.5 stars) and we were both couldn't stop once it got really going. So many questions and theories!

Another good installment to this series. We find out who kills Ruthie, some good things happening with Defiance and Rhone, more charmlings and the ending was awesome!

sweet agony

A common theme with Darynda’s writing seems to be this thing where she draws everything out. You and the characters have like, no ideas what’s going on. And then it all comes together. It is the most frustrating thing ever. But I love her work so much. I just sometimes wish we could all no a little more before the end of the dang book.
