We are back in Ember Falls, another book by Corinne Michaels that was hard to put down. This should come as no surprise if you have read this author before; she gives you characters and a story that pulls you in. Ember Falls is a town you want to visit for its welcoming charm and comfort of a small town. The supporting characters add another layer to the small town charm.

Violet and Everett have a complicated past, and now that she has returned, all the feelings are resurfacing, and for him, never forgotten. Violet is starting over, picking up the pieces of her life again. She has left Los Angeles and her marriage behind. Ember Falls is her safe spot to rebuild her confidence and her life. The slow burn these two have once they reconnect is filled with tension.

Violet and Everett’s journey is one I recommend. Their story is still with me, and I finished the book days ago.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

4.75-star Second Chance Romance

  • Second Chance / Right Person, Wrong Time
  • Surprise Pregnancy (Not His Baby)
  • Acts of Service Hero
  • Childhood Sweethearts / Neighbours to Lovers
  • Small‑Town Romance
  • Found Family
Everett is one of the sweetest heroes Corinne Michaels has written. His quiet, steady love, especially how he supports Violet through her unexpected pregnancy, really touched me. Violet’s story of coming back home to Ember Falls after being betrayed felt honest and relatable, and watching her rebuild her confidence was moving.

The cosy small-town setting and the strong, found-family vibe gave the story a comforting feel. I loved how the second-chance romance added real depth to their reunion. Everett doesn’t just say he loves Violet; he shows it through every kind action, kind word, and moment of support. That made their love story feel gentle, genuine, and truly earned.

As someone who adores the Ember Falls series, this book is my new favourite so far. It's heartfelt and full of hope.

5 All the Second Chances Stars!!

I know when I dive into a book by Ms. Michaels that I’m going to not only get an amazing story but also a book that has me all up in my feels. Everett and Violet delivered everything I love about a second chance story.

Violet’s world has fallen apart in a grand and very public way so she heads back to Ember Falls her hometown and her first true love Everett is still there as the town Vet and taking care of him Mom. This man is so swoony and I’ve kind of had a crush on him from the first time I met him so I gobbled this story up.

It’s not an easy road for these two especially when Violet discovers she’s pregnant by her detestable Ex. This definitely has an effect on her relationship with Everett but not in the way she imagined. Everett being the man he is makes it very clear that he not only loves Violet but he loves the life she’s growing inside her…. As I mentioned above….so swoony!

While there are a few battles they have to fight to get their second chance at a love that has really never gone away, they’re both willing to do whatever it takes. Their love is rekindled and so very apparent. I felt it in my bones with the wonderful way Ms. Michaels built their happily ever after.

Ember Falls has become a favorite small town for me. I love all the people in this town and their connections with each other. There’s witty banter galore that had me laughing out loud at moments, sizzling love scenes, friendships that are tried and true and for Everett and Violet the best second chance they never expected to get.

This one hit at just the right time. Hitting all the feels.

After finding out about her husband affair Violet takes off to Virginia to her grandmother house she inherited.

Everett, who is her first love, the one she let go is still the neighbor. She’s taking time to start over and heal from the betrayal. Everett is the perfect book boyfriend, patient, calm, and protective.

Their second chance story is even better with the layer of her pregnancy but it’s not his. The way he softly supports her through it all is beautiful.

Read it or listen this couple should not be missed!! 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰!

🎙Narrated by: Andi Arndt & Robert Hatchett🎙

Andi and Robert did an amazing job with Violet and Robert! I truly loved hearing them come to life before my ears! Andi gave Violet so much more than a voice. She gave so many other women voices throughout this book and I loved her renditions of what the other characters would be like!

Robert couldn't have been more perfect for Everett! He has the perfect pitch and tone to his voice that can be so versatile! He could be soothing, loving but also the authoritative figure in no time! He was perfect through this whole audio! So much so that I am finding everything else he has voiced ☺️.

Violet 💜 and Everett were the perfect example of the one that got away while still being right person, but wrong time! I loved these two soo much 🥰. I couldn't imagine what could have been different! I felt for 💜 Violet through a good portion of this book! She truly weathered the storm ⛈️ with the help of her found family. The ones she never knew she truly had in her corner. I was so giddy that Everett was quick to show her what she has there in Ember Falls. Not just him, but a whole family that was more than happy to welcome her back into their town and lives. I especially loved that her bestie flew 🛩 down to check on her after she didn't answer her phone. With her being there to check on 💜 Violet she was able to see where she had made her new home. She could see that she wasn't alone and destitute!

Everett said he would do anything to keep her from leaving again and that he did! He was such a great person in general but he truly loved her ❤️. His feelings when she came back only grew 10 fold. He knew what he was getting into and hadn't questioned it once because he knew where he stood in everything. He was there for 💜 Violet and not anyone else. He was committed before she ever found out about the baby. He didn't care what or who the baby's daddy was. He wanted to help raise the baby as his own like his adoptive parents did for him! Who wouldn't swoon 🥰 at that? He had the purest of intentions and kept his word!

I loved 😍 that Everett took her on calls with him so she could see his life and job. Truly see what its like for him to be around livestock and animals day in and day out. Of course she fell in love ❤️ with a goat 🐐! They are sooo funny but also menace 😂.

That epilogue couldn't have been more perfect!! I need a book 2 of these characters 😩! But that's okay. I'm excited to see about our next couple!

Okay, any book that has the "it's not his baby" trope is the book for me. I truly LOVE this trope because you know the guy really loves the FMC because he loves her child that isn't his as well. This is a great second chance romance, and while I am not always a huge fan of second chance romance, I think it really worked here because Violet had just experienced cheating and moving back to her small town to start over, and really needed a good man she KNOWS is a good man (since they knew each other before) to prove to her that love is really worth it. Everett was just such a sweetie and won me over right from the start; it was clear how much he adored Violet but was super patient and really wanted to show her it would be forever but knew she would have a difficult time trusting after what she had been through. I love all of the side characters too, and love the small town of Ember Falls! I loved their connection to his mom, and I really hate Dylan! All in all, this is one I enjoyed and would be perfect for those who love small town romances, "it's not his baby" trope, second chance romance, and a cozy, fun read.
