Watching latest James Bond brought me back into spy action/adventure literature :)

What starts as the hunt for a rogue assassin ends up as a more complex mission for our protagonist Will Robie. As he tries to navigate that middle-ground between blind obedience and analytical thinking about the missions assigned to him, Robie will soon find himself on the wrong end of [multiple] gun[s]. Only by his experience and still quick reflexes he will manage to survive.

Story has whole bunch of twists and turns and although at some points we enter the cliches of the genre, actions and feats of both Robie and other characters seem very realistic.

Highly recommended to all fans of thrillers and spy novels.

This was an easy read with some thrills and suspense. BUT overall it’s giving slightly generic and boring. I’m glad to see more of Will’s personality shine through in the 2nd instalment, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to really draw me in. Jessica was rather poorly written – she wasn’t interesting and felt very distant throughout. I didn’t understand her character much, so it was hard to care about her.

It would be interesting to see how the relationship between Will and Jessica develops over the series, and to learn more about their backstory. But there’s not much drive for me to pick up the next book… because I’m starting to feel that the writing is rather cliché, with lots of wooden dialogue and unnecessary details that get abit draggy.

Another great character pairing, Will Robie and Jessica. I will definitely finish the series and would love to read more about them.

This is typical Baldacci; conspiracy to do bad things at high levels of the government and a hero risking all to thwart them. Robie is sent to kill another CIA assassin who has killed other members of the agency but ends up working with her. Bloody and unlikely but oh so readable!

Baldacci = Clancy = Ludlum.
Predictable, formulaic, and stereotypical. And there's nothing really wrong with that.
You can be pretty much assured of a good read, interesting plot twists, and strong leading characters in a thriller when you choose any of these authors' books.
"The Hit" does offer an interesting female lead, which made it fun beach/Vacation reading for me.

The Hit by David Baldacci
Each of the hit men had jobs to do. When one messed up the other was ordered to take them out.
Love the very descriptive details and research of how she can only use one location along the brick wall and how to fix the holes she'd have to make for the scope and rifle and patch them up afterwards.
The other was going to have to be on his game to catch her. They were both in the top of their classes and can move freely and continue their everyday life's without a suspicion.
Send a killer to kill a killer. She's got the latest technology in th form of a key that would trace her steps and give her all kinds of other important information.
The Central Intelligence needed her to be gone and the Blue Man and the man even higher up met with Will Robee and gave him the USB to study Jessica Real's information to help find and eliminate her.
He had a wife and children. She had been engineered from childhood to do what she does.
Love how she calculates her moves. When he is right on her trail she calls him with a riddle. He's picked up something that links the two crimes together.
She tries to make him doubt his actions and tells the Blue Man that she's climbing up the ladder and he will be soon on the hit list from her.
The story goes back in time and we learn all the connections with the leaders to Jessica and Will...
Lots of action, adventure, travel and fast pace. Loved it!

4 stars - This is the second book in the Will Robie series and the third one i've read because i read the novella Bullseye before this one. I really enjoy Will Robie and the addition of Jessica Reel to the story is a good one. However, I was hoping for the reappearance of the protagonist from book 1. Nevertheless, the story is well told and dribbled out slowly enough to hold your interest as you begin to piece things together.
