تمومش کردم و تو زندگیم ندیده بودم یک انسان درد و رنج رو به این آسونی بتونه انتقال بده. هر بار که کاترین کتک میخورد هر زخم زبونی که هیت‌کلیف به اطرافیان میزد همزمان که باعث ناراحتیم میشد باعث دلسوزیم برای هیت‌کلیف هم میشد.
ازدواج کاترینِ بزرگ در ابتدا استعاره‌ای بود از ازدواج زن‌ها به عنوان رسم خانوادگیِ با فردی متشخص ازدواج کردن و در ادامه هر اتفاقی که در کتاب افتاد خرابی حاصل از این اتفاق بود.
این کتاب رو بدون هیچ اطلاعی از پیش زمینه‌ش پس از غرور و تعصب خوندم و فکر نمی‌کردم با ادبیات گوتیک رو‌به‌رو بشم، بهم یادآوری شد که مرگ بر این زندگی همواره ریشخند میز‌نه، که ما رنج می‌کشیم ‌و رنج می‌کشیم تا در نهایت به مقداری شادی برسیم، تا در نهایت به مرگ برسیم. هر میل ورزیدنی میل به مرگه، هر عشقی مرگ‌خواهانه‌ست.

This is the most toxic set of dynamics I have ever read, I feel. I’m all for it but I wasn’t expecting it. I found myself often thinking, “What in tarnation is going on here?!”

It was a tough read for me. The language is a bit difficult for my taste. Especially when Joseph talks. I didn’t even try with his lines. I sort of forced myself through this book.

String themes of obsession and revenge. These people were all deranged, to the point I found it funny. I liked that this was all a recount from Nelly and Lockwood. They seem to have fantastic memories, especially Nelly.

Not my favorite classic but I can see why it’s popular.
