I really thought there couldn't possibly be other characters I hated more than Miles and Cynthia from book 2, but then I met the main characters in this book.

While I haven't been able to finish most of the recent Everseas/Redmond books that I've read, I managed all the way through this one. And enjoyed it.
Kinsey is the guardian of Ian ever sees great rival the Duke of something or another. When she arrives in town that you can immediately notices that yes she's beautiful and yes she's wealthy but she's also a little strange. Ian is the only one who doesn't seem to follow immediately under her spell. He keeps noticing how long lashes just seems about up-and-down. She says about the entrance and all the men in the area even those who are already in love with another woman.
The 10th I can't quite hope it. She just knows how to manipulate people to get her own way and uses that skill. It is, in fact the same skill that he and ever see his conquests appointment. Of course, Dewbourne in away from Tansi, but Ian just can't help himself and keeps chasing her, even when he doesn't really feel she's attractive.

I liked this one a lot, but then when it comes to JAL that's like saying I like chocolate. It's kind of a no brander, her writing is my catnip. Good things and all that. Love, love, love.

This is my first Book in the Pennyroyal Green series and I think I’ll be hooked. I ended up really enjoying this one.
Tansy comes off as somewhat unlikable… but that’s kind of part of her charm? Like she never outgrew that time in 7th grade when we thought attention from boys was the best thing ever. But she’s also vulnerable and has had a rough go of it.
Ian is a (former?) playboy. He wants to find himself while traveling the world (same, Mr. Eversea, same). He’s made out to be something of a rake but honestly, he was on his best behavior in this book.
I really enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. I liked how when they were in public Ian was so frustrated with her but any time spent together just the two of them brought them closer together and you could just see the love blooming.
This was so fun and I can’t wait to continue the series.
Two charmers need to dig for and reveal real emotion. The characterization was good, in that I could see the characters in the present moment, but I wasn't entirely clear on how they got there.
Not at all as good as the previous books in this series, there was a bit too much repetition, between plot devices and actual singular words and phrases. Even the characters were tired of being described in the same way.
I read some more historicals! I know, you are shocked. I’m shocked. I think it’s the Tessa Dare effect. I was so enamored with the Governess Game, I’ve been chasing that high ever since. I’m not giving up on my beloved contemporaries and motorcycle romances, but a few pretty ladies in gowns and debonair dukes can certainly turn my head for a moment.
Tansy Danforth is beautiful and charming. So beautiful and charming, she wins the hearts and minds of almost every man she meets. Except for the beautiful and charming Ian Eversea, notorious rake and seducer, who can see right through her. But in unmasking Tansy, Ian also sees something of himself, and in confronting her, ends up exposing vulnerabilities that call to his own scars and wounds.
Julie Ann Long is a new-to-me author but Between the Devil and Ian Eversea was so good, it will definitely not be the last. I loved how Ian and Tansy met their match in each other. Ian is all seductive charm while Tansy is an ultimate ingenue, bubbly and flirtatious. But they both essentially use their impressive beauty and considerable flirting skills to hide their true selves from the world. And watching those walls come down as they get to know each other was so delightful and emotionally satisfying. My only criticism is that Tansy is something of a cipher for most of the first half of the book– I think Long meant her to be, to better reveal her true self through her relationship with Ian, but it makes it hard to sympathize with her in the beginning. 4 stars.
