I thought it was a well written story. It felt a little rushed towards the end, but I thought the cultures represented and that time period were fertile grounds for the story to unfold.

One of my least favorite tropes dominated the book - but the underlying plots and historical context was so beautifully done it saved it.. Highly recommend playing at 1.5 or faster if you listen to the audiobook bc it is very slow

This was complicated and lovely from beginning to end! Henry & Keiko were quite the pair. I loved Sheldon & Ethel’s role that they played in Henry’s life.

This is one of those where I really wish we could do half stars. A solid three-and-a-half.
A sweet story, but you never fully connect with the characters, and the resolution's just a little too good to be true.

To this day, one of my favorite innocent love stories.
